I like Queen, with Freddy Mercury. Good old Freddy was a musical genius with the way he would mix different genres of music into one piece- classical and rock and roll, for example. (Bohemian Rhapsody is a good example) and he was fearless. He had an amazing range and charisma on stage and in the recording studio. He didn't hide who he was, just threw himself out there and said "This is me, take me as I am" and despite the homophobic society he was popular in, people did just that- took him as he was and loved him. He was adored and still is to this day.

I want to be as fearless as he was. I admire his talent, his strength, and his ability to always have a positive outlook on life. The world lost a beautiful soul the day he died.

There are many other musicians and groups I like, depending on my mood, but Freddy is the only one I feel like supporting here. I will occasionally joke with my friends that if there was one person from the past I could save, it would have been him. ;)

I TOTALLY AGREE! Freddy Mercury was the shit, but did you hear about the fucking brit's comparing the lead singer guy from coldplay to Mr. Mercury? I think it's bullshit!! There is no one, in my opinion, that has came close to being a musical genius like Freddy Mercury. When he sang, he produced, to be cliche, magic to my ears....oh and Bohemian Rhapsody is a emotion killer....he's singing about how he wants to live and not die (when he was dying from aids)...yeah that song has so much emotion, it kills me. Not literally, but I think you get the jig. Queen, a great band with a fucking outstanding singer! Man, why is it that the most talented somehow die? I guess it's keeping the balance in the world, meaning that one shouldn't have way more talent than another huh? That's fate shit, haha!

Music is cyclical..I am studying Music history right now and their was a period in classical music where troubador songs were the Miley of their day ( bad example but you get the idea..too much of the same frivolous shit) ...dont worry, good music will come back eventually:D.

i guess its different strokes for different folks because i honestly cant stand that guy. maybe its just american idol or just the whole idea of it. and i love all different types of music but maybe im just too picky for my own good.

I would just like to put in System of a Down. Their mix of...well, I wouldn't say heavy metal, but i guess speed metal might work...but their mix of speed metal with songs about topics that reflect in this world is pretty cool. Anyone here absorbed by the System?

well me personally, there aren't many that don't sound just like the one you just heard. Whether it is boy bands or screaming bands as i call them. It is hard to find something original. I heard the band Thriving Ivey or ory and thought they were different, just me. I like evanesence..sorry bout the spelling its late here.
