HOW TO CONTROL YOUR LUCID DREAM

First, you need to remember your dreams and get into the habit of journalizing your dreams (keeping a notepad and pencil next to your bed would be great). Doing so will familiarize yourself with what kind of dreams you have, what feelings you have during your dreams, etc. Eventually, you learn to recognize what you are dreaming.

Throughout the day, ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?" when something strange or odd happens to you. Don't straight out say, "Of course I'm not!" Instead, look for clues. Look at a clock, look away, and then look at it again. In dreams, the time will be totally different than the first glance. Same thing with the text in a book. Once you learn to do this naturally in life, you will learn to do this in your dreams as well. You will be well on your way to lucidity.

Have a counting method. When laying in bed, count to your self like this: One, I am dreaming. Two, I am dreaming. Soon you'll be saying Fifty-two, I am dreaming, and you really will be dreaming.

Identify your dream signals. Know what objects, images, or actions are always in your dreams. For example, let's say an apple is always in your dreams. Before you go to sleep, tell yourself, "When I see an apple, I know I am dreaming."

Use your dream signs in your sleep. If something utterly impossible happens to you, then you should know that you're dreaming. That includes flying, walking through walls, seeing someone who is dead in real life.

Encourage lucid dreams, don't force them. Always be relaxed and patient.

As you improve, you'll be able to tell yourself just what you want in your dream. Before goiing to bed, tell what you want to dream and what area you want to explore.

Not at all, if you do then lucky you! Some people get them more than others, and someone earlier in this thread did say that their brother always had them.

I don't think I've heard that before. I'll try that - it takes me so long to go to sleep that I can't use most of the "do this just before you go to sleep" tricks, because I don't know when that'll be!

Handy dreamsign: when you wake up, always check that you're in bed - lately I've found myself on the sofa, out in the garden, and in a bed made up halfway down the stairs (for heaven's sake!)

A lucid dream is basically a dream where you know you're dreaming, and can control what's happening. For example, I realize i'm in a dream, and i tell a station wagon to turn into a lamborghini, and it does. That's a lucid dream.

I've been having increasingly vivid dreams. Dreams that are so real that all of my senses are engaged. Increasingly I can control what happens and interact with the people in my dreams and seemingly "control" the sequence. The only distinction between my dreams and what everyone seems to be calling lucid dreams is that I am NOTaware I am dreaming. During the dream, I'd swear that I'm wide awake. It's like I'm living a separate life inside of my dreams. They aren't like the symbolic type of dreams, it's like real life with real relationships. I'm looking for my information on this but don't seem to see it anywhere. I'm not really a person that is by nature into the cosmic nature of the universe. I'm an attorney by trade and typically look at things more analytically-- so this parallel universe/life thing is kind of freaking me out. By the way, dreams are 50-50 between great experiences and scary ones. Any help or insight appreciated.

Here is tip that I am trying out on how to lucid dream.
Grab a pen and write "A" On your hand for "Awake"
I've heard if you see it regularly you will see it in your dreams too.
Therefore making your dream lucid (knowing that you are dreaming while you are dreaming)

My brother says that every time he has a dream he is aware he is dreaming and can control what is going on. He's not on medication or anything, so is that lucid? In fact is it even normal? (When he told me I thought it was a bit weird because I almost never have controllable dreams).

I've always had clear dreams,real dreams,or lucid as you will.

I never knew there was a name to my dreams. I've had lucid dreams my whole life, and often -- weekly even. What does it mean when someone gets them often? This mornings dream was so intense that I finally googled it and happened on this site. I could only control my dream when my life was in danger. Like causing the ground to shoot up vertical to keep enemies away. And now I think I've met my dream guide this morning. He pulled me into a cave for safety, it was pitch black so I couldn't see him. He was just a comforting voice in the darkness. For the rest of my dream his voice would send warning and wisdom when I was in danger. Was this my dream guide...? I do enjoy lucid dreaming often but sometimes they get so intense and realistic. Either way I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who has these dreams! I should have researched it years ago. I lucid dreamed almost nightly when I was little, but as I grew up it happened less and less often. Did this happen to anyone else? Anyone know why? I can wake myself up out of dreams anytime I want if I dont like them, so part of me must still know I am dreaming.

I don't know if this happened to me or not, but try to remember if you had any theories on how to lucid dream when you were younger. I heard if you write the letter "A" on your hand, and look at it during the day a lot, you can lucid dream by remembering that you had the "A" on your hand.

I had a dream a couple of weeks ago that has touched me deeply. Anyone. I was standing in line with some unknown people waiting on my turn when I got to the front it was a board of priest sitting around a table and advised me "My time has come" I was then guided by my deceased cousin and he was explaining how judgement was for me. At first there was so many bad things going on and I was truly frightened but my cousin assured me it was okay. As we continued walking we came to this pasture where all the people that I have encountered in my life that has past away was there greeting and assuring me everything was okay. I woke up feeling a sense of peace and serenity.

Since that time I have had several dreams night after night that involves people from my life that have past away all assuring me its okay. I am a police officer and currently out on personal illness for myself. I am being tested for lymph node cancer and am having seizures. I am wondering if these visits are guides to this life or the "other side". What would you say?

I think I see lucid dreams...now that I read your comments about what they exactlly are...I feel them as reality...I remember them and I can sometimes control them....sometimes though I am not sure if I am just a watcher...to explain this.. I mean there are times were i do not know if i see my other me being in a dream and like me the real me watching and control the story of the dream...there is also a particular house I see very often and an elderly man sitting on the balcony and smoking....I don't know if I have met my doppelganger or my spirit guide ...but I find your descriptions very interesting...

I only had a few lucid dreams in my life, and they often shorts and unspectacular. Because, even though I could alter it to what I want, I could not think of anything of particular interest or further experimentation, in the end I just let my dreams to flow as it is and only intervene when things get out of hand. Just like watching movies.
My habits of writing dream journal helps me to examine objects in my dreams, but when I focus myself too much towards one of the objects, the other things in my dreams began to fade and loose its consistency. This is how my lucid dreams ends up most of the time, chaos. And then I got fed up and choose to wake up from the nonsense (and found myself still paralyzed in bed for a few minutes and started gasping for air because of the panic). I think my body is still asleep.

And, after reading this forum, I just realized that I never encountered any mirrors in my lucid dreams, I cannot see my own reflections where they supposed to be (e. bodies of water, windows), I don't think I was ready to confront my darker self. I also just realized that in most of my dreams lights has no source, the whole world is lit, just like that. Oh, also, I often encounter roadsigns, pamphlet, or anything with words in it, I cannot read it, but I know what it says. Funny things.

There are two meanings for lucid dremaing.
1. Lucid dreaming is kinda like hallucinating. You have to keep your eyes closed for half an hour, and don't move at all or don't let anything distract you for you to open your eyes.
2. Lucid dreaming is being aware of dreaming, but also you're kinda like controlling the dream. Flying, teleporting, summoning things, and being invisible are all examples of lucid dreaming powers.

Can you get hurt in a lucid dream? I all ways dream of the same place, but I’m doing different things each time and I’m always a man and I’m some sort of spy and in some of my missions I get hurt, in one I was running and twisted my ankle and when I woke up my leg was killing me, and in another I was pinned down and given a sedative injection in my arm, when I passed out in my dream I woke up in real life to find my arm sore. And I remember these dreams like I lived them in real life; I have been having them for 12yrs now. So I guess my question is can you get hurt in a lucid dream?

ps. I learned how to draw realism in a dream, and woke up in the midle of the nite to spend 3hrs drawing the picture I had just learned to do.

Im not a very good lucid dreamer, but most of my dreams are lucid.
When I have a lucid dream it has a tenancy to loop.

For example, I had a dream where I was in a car and it drove off the bridge and we all drowned.
Then the dream moved back to the moment the car fell off the bridge I began gaining control and tried getting out of the car.
Then it repeated again, this time I am able to kick out the back screen of the car
Then it repeats again, and I am able to pull my sister out as well and so on

My Doppelgänger must be having a bad life cause I dreamed that everyone was being mean to me even my mother! While I was dreaming I felt like I was really in that building that I was dreaming about. I really felt like they were being mean to me. Only it really wasn't me they were being mean to, it was my Doppelgänger that was trying to make me feel like that. Hmm? interesting!

I've had only one Lucid dream in my life, but it didn't seem to last the entire dream.

I saw this topic and it made me curious to know more. I didn't know you could create them yourself.

So after reading a little bit, I decided to take a nap. I had been up for about 3 hours after getting my children ready for school.

I tried the tips the website gave me before I fell asleep, when I woke up I was quite surprised.

I hardly remember my dreams, so when I didn't remember what exactly I was dreaming about but knew I had dreamed something it was nothing new. Buuut.. I do vaugely remember in my dream at some point I told myself "I'm dreaming, I did it".

I'll definitely be trying this again..

I've been lucid dreaming for most of my life IF your definition of lucid dreaming is being able to take charge of your dreams and demand a different outcome than the one being presented. This is part of my race culture. We just do this. Lucid dreams are quests. It can't be a quest if you just let someone else take over and tell you what to do. You can get help and often do, if you are new and need the guidance. But don't for a moment relinquish your duty to resolve the dream to your desired outcome.

I have regular dreams, just like everyone else - sound and fury and full color. But once in a while the dream takes a direction I don't like. In steps Lucid. "Excuse me. This is MY dream and you don't get to freakin' mess it up. You can play this positive part or just leave the way you came."

The Bastige who appeared to be so overwhelming backs down and moves away or accepts the part I give him/her/it.

I have also done this type of dreaming when it was not my issue at stake. My cousin had a thing going with a man who was not good for her. In her dark hour, I found myself in her apartment. We talked. Then we built a fantastic barricade against her front door. Her choice, my help. When we talked two days later, she remembered and related the dream and told me about my coming to her apartment while she was asleep. It was her first remembered lucid dream. I stopped her speaking before she got too far and filled in details I couldn't have known except for being there - like the clothes she had folded on her dirty clothes hamper. Since then she has had many other lucid dreams and returned my help.

Lucid dreaming is not that big a deal. It is not about some ancient like Seth being out there to help (or freakin' possess) you. No way. Real lucid dreaming is about YOU taking charge of your life by denying the forces of doubt. Recognize the real enemy - your own fears - and make them take the hindmost or better yet add to the beauty of what you are dreaming for yourself.

Dreams are for real. Dreams carry us to the next level and help us pass boundaries we don't even challenge because we think they are real rather than imagined. Lucid dreaming is designed to let you recognize STUPID boundaries you have placed on yourself. Dream, Remember, and Kick those Ahole doubts into the dream in roles that forward what you want to have happen in your life.

It ain't hard. All you have to do is recognize YOU ARE in charge of your dreams. You can control not only what is in the "real" world but what happens in your dreams.

My first lucid dream experience was 2 nights ago, I didn't do anything i was halfway through my dream an I felt as if I was myself in the dream and controlling what I was doing in the most important part of my dream. I didn't do anything the lucid dreaming was an accident but it only occurred because in my opinion it was since I read so many of these lucid dream.i tried last night and didn't read anything but it didn't work

Lucid dream is one in which one is aware of having dream. One may know that he or she is dreaming. You may also have lucid dreams for that you have to do slight practice, you may follow the steps given below:
1:Firstly have a Notebook in which you have to write down what you want to see in dream, read this before going to sleep.
2:You should not watch any movie before sleeping otherwise you may have a dream about it.
3: After closing eyes think about your dream it will increase probability of having dream which you want to see.
4:Keep thinking "Am I awake, or I am dreaming?" This will help you tell the difference between the dreams and reality when you are asleep.
