Shadow Demon?

Postby Borders on Sat May 26, 2012 9:19 am

So last night I had the first nightmare I've had in a long time. There was more to it than i remember, i just can't remember what it was.

So the part I do remember, I remember running up a meadow-like hill in the middle of the night that ended at a cliff. There was a full moon and a lot of little white flowers on the hill side. I stopped at the edge of the cliff and was looking into a valley where there must have been a forest because I could hear the rustle of the trees in the wind.

Anyway, then my point of view shifts to looking at a dirt road with these shadows crossing it from the trees. As I'm watching this, something invisible goes by, which i felt more than saw, and the shadows that were going across the road start to break apart into little dark blots of ashes it looks like. Whatever the thing that went by was, was taking the casted shadows into itself to make it tangible.

This goes on for a while, me just watching the shadows break apart and conglomerating into a dark mass. Then the thing lets out this silent roar and ALL the shadows in the area break apart and flow into it.

The thing then flies to the ground and starts rushing to where I am. From its perspective i can see it coming up behind me. My point of view switches back to me, and i turn around knowing that it's coming. All i see is this flowing mass of black flying at me, and when it grabs/crushes me, that's when i wake up. Almost scream but don't, hearts pounding like crazy and i was sweaty.

Hi,
The dream indicates some stress and probably some anxiety caused by a break up of a relationship. You sleep uneasy, toss and turn and finish up in a bad sleeping position that causes you breathlessness. If you,re a bit overweight, it is worse.

Oddly enough, i had it sleeping next to my new boyfriend. Been together for a month, and broke up with my ex about 6 months ago. And if anything, I'm underweight. Ha. So maybe just the stress of a new relationship. And his mother and sister are visiting.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply!

Perhaps youwere sleeping too close to him? Oddly enough :), many of the nightmares and night hag dreams used to happen to newly wedds in olden times. It used to be a hush-hush affair as many people belived it was the devil did the damage! However, it was the closeness of the lovers, and going to sleep in an embrace after a hectic session that caused the dreams. Sleeping on ones back or belly, sleeping in a close embrace, or even having tight bedclothes, or bed linnen can cause breathing difficulties afte some time and the subconscious creates the nightmare to woke the sleeper.

I don't think it was the closeness. We always sleep in the others embrace. Maybe it is stress relating to the fact that i have to learn how to trust someone again, as i don't fully trust him yet. I have a feeling that this is the case.
