Tearing my Tongue out

i had a bleeding nose, and i could feel a clot coming, so i tried to pull it out slowly. it was a long clot. then i realized it wasn't a clot, it was my tongue, which was loose. i pulled my tongue out of my mouth, feeling the tearing of it's stem and the blood in my mouth. it felt so wrong. when it was finally out, it was limp and bloody. the stump remaining in my mouth was pock-marked and rotten, and there was a puddle of blood at the bottom of my mouth.

I guess the obvious thing would be either you said something you regret or you have something you want to say but can't. Ripping your tongue out is either punishing yourself or preventing yourself.
