Can someone please explain?

Postby baileybrooks95 on Mon Apr 16, 2012 9:01 pm

i am new to this cite and i must say that i am fascinated. Does Lucid dreaming take practice, and if so, how do you practice something like dreaming? I always though that your mind just created these dreams and they never really meant anything, i had no idea that you could actually control them? Can someone please explain and help me to understand more about lucid dreaming and dreams in general?

Lucid dreams are when you are aware that you are dreaming, I would say it takes practice. Practice could be doing basic things to help you realize when you are dreaming such as reality checking periodically, writing your dreams down and paying attention to things that occur frequently in them. Some people attain lucid dreams by meditation, I've never tried it this way, so I wouldn't know how.
Some people just naturally always have lucid dreams, so I suppose they wouldn't need to practice. I've had a few without really trying to as well, but all the things above can help you get a lucid dream, and have helped me have more.

Even once you are lucid you may need to practice doing things before you can do them well. I kept waking myself up once I became lucid because I was so excited, but I've learned to stay calm and now can try controlling the dream. Even dream control has to be practiced for some, others may be able to change everything at will while others will struggle to fly. The control, in my experience, can vary from dream to dream, sometimes I can do absolutely everything, and other times everything is just all wrong, or not working all together.

As for the dreams not meaning anything, I can't really say. A lot of the weird things that occur in my dreams can be related to my current situation in one way or another.
