Horribely weird dream - can't get it out of my mind

I dreamt I was in a real-life version of the film Battle Royale (which I havn't even seen) and there was bloodshed everywhere. My dog was with me and for whatever reason I felt the need to kill it. I stabbed it once but it was still alive, I repeated again and again but it was just lying there breathing, not exactly in pain, just accepting being stabbed. Then I was in a room, like a makeshift morgue, with a lot of people and someone brought in a little girl who'd died somehow. I had to perform this weird ritual of cutting the girl's throat and covering her with her own blood, but I didn't know where exactly to make the incision. After finally making the incision, someone, a woman I think, helps me to massage the body with the blood. I am told that the ritual requires half of the body's blood to remain actually in the body.

It disturbed me considerably and has been niggling at my mind all day. I can't remember much of the dream, because I'd been drinking and I've read somewhere alcohol hinders the ability to remember the dream. Does anyone have any idea what it could mean? Any opinions would be helpful, thanks

Blood always horrifies the dreamer yet it has a variety of meanings: life, love, passion, disappointments, injury and your fears about death. \
Bloodshed suggests you may be feeling emotionally drained in your waking life.
Stabbing your dog suggests you have an untrusting nature and a fear of betrayal.

Pretty intense stuff - if anythging here is true then one interpretation could be that you have trust issues, are still haunted by issues from your past and are conducting a bad habit that you find difficult to break.

Thank you very much. That's given me a lot to think about. As you can imagine, because of the violence within the dream I was concerned it was something more sinister. I still wonder about the bad habit thing though, what would qualify as a bad habit? I have several habits but I can't think of any that are actually bad, do you think this 'viscous cycle' may be something that I'm already aware of and am trying to change it, or something that I have no clue about?
