So, because someone posts pictures of how 'dark' they are and go around a forum skulking, they're depressed? There's a difference between depression and wanting attention.

Noooo lol! Well, yes. Sorta. Even if they do want attention, they could still feel offended and cut themselves or something. My friend was in an incident similar to this and she wasn't even making fun of a person she was just kidding and this guy we know took offense and ended up cutting himself. Yeah maybe he did want attention but I mean she still didn't want it to happen.

Hey Xwikki! So glad to see you post........you're a special person and I for one have missed you................

I must say, however unpopular it is, there are some people who have blatant needs for attention and will post whatever it takes to elicit a response. I am not making light of anyones perception or anyone's problems, but at times there are posters who could not be more obvious about needing some form of attention, confirmation or a pat on the head that if they were running throught the living room at a party, jumping up and yelling "look at me" look at me! Does this make them a bad person, no, does this cause others to discount their posts and tend to either pacify them or ignore them, yes.

It's much like the contest threads and the "who would rather threads". I have nothing against them, but the "who would rather" post at times looks so much like a " please pick me, or look at this cool group we have" and like I said it makes no difference to me because I understand I can not read it anytime I find it is not what I want to read, BUT I can tell it is place/thread that creates some serious issues for some posters who want to be validated and/or "included/picked/whatever". That is the part that is sad, not the thread but the reaction by some who view it as a badge of honor, accomplishment, or acceptance.

I'm sure I will kicked in the goose eggs for this post, but those that know me, know I'm not being malicious. Those that don't know won't care anyway.

I have nothing against them, but the "who would rather" post at times looks so much like a " please pick me, or look at this cool group we have" and like I said it makes no difference to me because I understand I can not read it anytime I find it is not what I want to read, BUT I can tell it is place/thread that creates some serious issues for some posters who want to be validated and/or "included/picked/whatever". You misunderstood me, I think you should enjoy whatever it is you enjoy, and the contest threads included. My point was and is that it should be kept in perspective, this is a an internet forum, and whether you are selected to be in a contest, or who would you rather thread shouldn't really be a big deal, but that's just me. My point was there are some posters who posts things that by nature result in people responding in a way to help, console or assist, nothing wrong with that either other than some do it to the point that it would be better if they just said, "look at me" which is ok with me, but at times the other methods they use tend to make readers numb and not really see the person posting, but rather the methods they have taken to get the attention.

I understand what you are saying, but I also want to point out that sometimes the issue is not that anyone said anything, it is that the person was not included, even though in their mind/actions they had made it clear that they wanted to be picked or included, yet they were still excluded. I want them to understand, "so what" it's just an internet thread, it shouldn't affect you if you aren't included in a thread or contest.

Personally if people really knew me and were around me they would see that I would be the most handsome, the richest, the funniest, wittiest, smartest, and all around super hero that you would always pick in the "who would rather" thread, right now the only problem with what I just said is I have only one negative trait, that is, I'm a little more than slightly dilusional!........but I am sure I can overcome it! hahahahahahaha

Let it out!!! I don't mind hearing your rants. Bottling it up only serves to make you miserable. All the rage can fester inside until you flip out. I used to be passive-aggressive, man...one minute I was a doormat and the next, yelling at loved ones I cared about. I lost some dear friends by being a bitch, until I learned healthy ways to cope with my feelings.
You are better off just being assertive and just stating your needs and confronting the issues. I write in a feelings diary. Once the anger and sadness is released, you write through the darkness and you're released of bottled up, pent-up aggression. I don't mind hearing what's on your mind...sometimes, I am the one you love to hate. Love and hate are mixed together and it is better just to express yourself. Going for a run or talking to a trusted friend can also help calm your angst and frustration.
I think the more you hold it in, the sadder you can get. Most people aren't mind readers, so you kind of need to allow yourself freedom of expression. Have the courage of your opinions and allow yourself a liberation from the chains of repression.
