1. Fun. If he's boring, (to talk to, to do things with, or even in bed) then he is gone. I can't take boring for more than a couple hours.
2. Has a life of his own. I don't care for clingy boys. I don't mind if a guy says "sorry, i already have plans with the guys. maybe we can go on date next weekend instead?" it shows they aren't blinded by infatuation and putting me above everything. I hate when guys do the whole head-over-heels, Your-My-Everything-Now shit.
3. We aren't identical personality wise. I like it when we're different, cuz then we can learn from one another and try new things together

Just to be kind and nice in general, it doesn't mean big gestures but small things like a text first thing in the morning or last thing at night. A hug when he goes somewhere, saying he misses you, walking you home or to your bus

ive just broke up with my boyfriend he was very clingy possessive and controlling at first i thought it was cute and very flattering that he was so interested.. it got too much and it was irritating. so indepencence is great i dont think i could be in another relationship where we didnt have our own space and our own friends..

I totally agree in all those things about being honest and not clingy. But sometimes it can be a little too much.

My ex boyfriend was very honest. A bit too honest. On of the first times I was at his place, he spend an hour expaining me about his former girlfriends and especially how much he had loved the last one. I am the listening type, and i thought, maybe he just needs to get it off his chest, so he could move on. I later found out that he never really got over her.

And the not clingy-thing? Sure, its never nice to be texted all the time. But this guy never, like NEVER texted me, just to hear what I was doing or how i was, not even to say something nice to me. He only wrote bad news, how much school boared him and similar things.

So, be honest, but don't tell every little detail about your life. We want to listen, but we dont want to be your psycologist. And don't cling, but it is nice to recieve some nice words sometimes.

Yes. This is exactly what I look for as well. You talk about setting the bar high, but no. I don't think it's asking that much. I think it's asking for something that's relatively uncommon, but it's not asking a lot. Why is it not a lot? Because what you're asking for is actually the nature of a person. Too bad not many people have those traits I can never find the right guy for a nice relationship because for some reason the only guys ever admitting they have a thing for me are already taken men Thing that sucks is- personality wise, likes an interests are the same- I would probably date them too. But the fact that they are telling me this while in a relationship shows me they possess an inner "hole" that turns me off. They haven't cheated and they love their partner, but they're admitting they have feelings toward another person. That's because they're looking for something to fill that hole, and they themselves aren't aware they're using the relationship partially as a means to medicate their own wounds. It's a selfish "love"- I'll love you because you make me feel good. What I want is "I am happy, I don't expect you to do anything for me. You don't owe me anything. I just love you for who you are." Some might misunderstand me and think I'm saying that I don't want to do anything for the person- no, I would love to please my partner- the point is that many people enter a relationship with expectations and a list of certain demands because they've been hurt from past relationships. When people do that they're in for a big surprise. I think you're setting yourself up for failure. For example, Sally marries Tom because Tom is financially stable, and a great guy. Well, 3 yrs later Tom's company isn't doing so good and he gets laid off. Now Sally is a miserable bi*** because she expected Tom to be "financially stable and a great guy." Why did Sally place so much importance on those silly little expectations? Truth could be she thought she couldn't find a better catch than Tom and thought she should just "settle." It's not about finding the perfect person, it's about finding someone with those traits I listed in slot #1.

Ok, here goes.
1. Tolerant-- I need space, a lot of it, and even though I don't exactly lie, when it comes to talking about myself I tend to edit, so please be willing to either leave well enough alone, or pick 'em (whatever I'm not saying) out of me. Sometimes, all I need is a push. Sometimes a shove. Sometimes a bulldozer. I'm never the same. But if I can't talk about something, I'm gonna need him to (maybe) wait around a little (or a lot) until I do, cuz its not that I don't want to, its just that I -well, don't talk about me. I'm not good with 'personals'. Also, I have mood swings that even get on my nerves sometimes; as my grandmother puts it, 'if I'm happy, I'm very, very happy; if I'm grumpy, I'm horrid.
2. Smart-Funny (because I only get to put down three qualities, I'm gonna have to combine two) I need someone that I WILL NOT have to explain every other word I say to; it gets REALLY annoying. And comic relief is a good thing sometimes, you know?
3. Virtous- Hygenic (sorry, another two I had to combine) (but I'm picky and I'm not good with 'standards' (kinda makes me wonder how my "standards" go over with the public)) Morals are a great (and mandatory) thing to have. And I can take it if you're not Brad Pitt, (though he's not exactly my type looks-wise either) but cleanliness is kind of required.

I never really cared too much about the physical aspect of a guy until recently. A broad chest to me is like a huge set of boobs to a guy A guy walked in where I worked and his chest was I had to avert my eyes. I was staring.

1. Dominant, but not domineering. There is a difference.
2. Intelligent
3. Humor/Clean(take a shower, and brush your teeth!) I couldn't decide what was more important to me.
