what are your Fav scenes from a movie

Postby KRSTYSTLCLR » Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:50 pm

Pretty basic question,
What are you favorite scenes from any movie?

I love the scene in Jaws when Capt. Brody, Quint and Hooper are having a few drinks, singing and comparing battle scars. Then Quint goes into his story about delivering the Bomb for Hiroshima. I'll watch the whole movie again just to see that part!

If anyone finds a clip from that scene, please post it. I can't find one anywhere.

The Bonecreatures scene from Svankmajer's Alice is one of my favorites. It really interprets the violence of the novel well.

I also enjoy the restaurant scene from Tati's "Playtime". Everything is so orderly and mechanical until a stranger comes along and causes everything to fall apart, for the better.

Several scenes from Inglourious Bastards. If you seen it you know. Love the last scene when he thinks pitt is letting him go and he carves his head too, lolz.

Too many to mention, that movie was great.

The Ride of the Valkyries scene from Apocalypse Now.
The imitation/false mirror scene from Duck Soup.
The four beds/apartment scene from A Night at the Opera.
The last 15 minutes or so of 2001: A Space Odyssey and well, any scene in that whole film.
The library scene from Wings of Desire.
The creation sequence and the ending in The Tree of Life (Again, every scene in that movie is excellent).

Deepsleeper,

You know I Love The Tree of Life. The Creation scene was one of my favorites as well. What did you take away from that film?
I thought about it for days after. I think the message I got was we really dont know our loved oones as deeply as we think we do, and also at some point in all our lives we question our purpose. I see a lot of my own family dynamics in that film.
Still love it.

I think it's more an experience than just a film. Malick is a filmmaking genius (a word I don't throw around) and here, he beautifully expresses the joys and the struggles of life. Using symbolic imagery, he creates breathtaking sequences that never ring false. Every time I see the film, I feel completely satisfied by the end- and after 4 viewings, it hasn't lost its impact one bit!

Hi KRSTYS!

Not to keep beating the Clint Eastwood drum but I love the scene in "The Outlaw Josey Wales"

Snake Oil Salesman: "This stuff is great, it's a tonic, an elixor, it can do almost anything at $1 a bottle"

Clint Eastwood: Spits tobacco juice on the Salesman's white suit "Yea, how is it on stains?"

Cracks me up everytime.........

That movie always leaves me feeling weird. Kind of depressed and thoughtful and sadly enlightened. That is a beautiful scene though.
That is the only movie that I like Mark Walberg in.

I think the guys that shot him were pretty good actors. I mean you definitely get the feeling that they new it had to be done, but regretted doing it. Its like they couldn't believe that he turned his back to them, and then you think, maybe he knew what they were about and he was ready to go.

I wish the person uploaded the entire scene instead of those seven minutes of it. If I can recall correctly, the scene lasted from twenty to thirty minutes. I found it kind of sad that 1/3 of the theater left during that scene because they couldn't open their minds to something different. And then most of the people sounded confused once the movie was over. I guess movies like this just can't survive in a society that has an attention span of five seconds.

I hear you rockpillow. I was even like what? What is this movie supposed to be about? It took me a few days of pondering different scenes to figure it out. I'm guessing that is just because it relied on the visual so much of the story. Not your typical Hollywood type movie. It's beauty is so breathtaking. I wish other people would take a chance on it and I'm really curious to see what else the team that made it can come up with in the future.

It's an excellent, excellent film, but it isn't one that I could recommend to just anyone. There are plenty of people who I know that without a doubt would HATE it. :(
As for walkouts/audience reactions:
The first time I saw it, the theater was packed, and I'd say that we lost about 10/12 people, but there was groaning throughout and when it ended there was a collective sigh of relief and almost everyone immediately got up and left.
The second time I saw it, there were maybe 15 people in the theater. No one left, but the people in front of me- college students were making fun of the dinosaur scene. :x

I like the part in Pirates of the Carrabien: At worlds end where their fighting around that massive whirlpool

Also in the really really old film of The Three Musketeers when he was fighting all those people on the stairs. Although every fight scene was bloody fantastic in that show

I also loved the beginning of Skyrim running away from the dragon but of couse that's not a movie.

Id like to mention a comical responce.
Dragon ball Z movies Goku vs Lord Slug. The best version is with the band "Disturbed" does the background tracks.
Im stuck on the scene where Goku has nothing left. And hes about to die. he says a prayer to himself and begs the for forgiveness.
The killing blow swings.
"Catch".
Goku catches Slugs fist mid swing and gos friggin Nutz. The music kicks in and you get "Stoked" watching it. Buildings are demolished as gods do battle.

Even though the scene is ruined by another character narrating later.
Even though the Dragon ball series is infested with this scene in nearly every story in the serries.
We all have to agree that there is at least one of them that gets you stoked. And hooks you in to watch the end of the fight.
For me with the "Z" serries its Goku vs Lord Slug.
I know its odd for a movie forum but its either this or A scene from "Fight club".
The one where the main character asks marla to say his name to him.
