It doesn't seem to want to pop for me. Sounds like some sort of crisis center. Good to have some to go or speak out. Very serious subject.

I wonder you would sign up for something like that? Cookies and killing. Baking with a gun strapped to my thigh. I would probably have to break out the short short for that.

What if you sold the cookies? Wait I feel like I am pimping myself out here. I take it back. :halo:

I would consider cybersex as cheating. Any kind of intamacy with another is cheating.

I am shocked on more man on man rape in the military, that is something you don't hear reported on much.

Agree. Consistent flirting with others online shows an issue too, especially if the person involved is married. Something is missing.

Anyone that needs validation like that and outside the partnership they have is asking for trouble. imo. Like the guys tsetse knows with their dick shots on their phones.

Look at that HD that was on here, enough said. lolz

I agree, flirting is ok as most of the time it's harmless fun.
Its intamacy that would bother me. Like if he was holding hands with another girl or snuggling.

Wow Tropical.... interesting link. How did you find that one? That report was from Los Angeles area. I have to say that even though this makes me sick to think about, I know a few young people who's lives were changed from their Military experience. Having a few years away from their hoods to see life from a different angle gave them a chance to walk away from a life they would have otherwise been practically forced to live.

My question would be, how should the Military go about their recruiting process to lessen the chance of being the catalyst for these gang members bringing warfare tactics back to our city's? I mean, they can't possibly do a full background check on each person who enters that has a past. What should the criteria be to weed these guys and surely gals out? Does our Military need or already have GANG UNITS?

I agree, but what if you have a jealous or insecure partner and they happen upon it? harmless will no longer exist after that.

@ KRSTY- You should PM Guardian and let him know about what you asked, he is the resident go to for answers about the military guy, other guy is Sanick, right?

I think the military should be able to tell who has gangs affiliations.
You asked some great questions.

@ Pkid- I would pay off bills, for all I love, maybe my sister too, haha. Set up a special account for my niece in case I never have kiddies. Retire my parents to where ever they'd love to live, buy new homes and cars for people. Go to Milan, study fashion there and in NY, set up whatever my love would enjoy doing too. Lots more I would do too, but prolly the money would have run out by then.

@ jojo's question referring to online addiction. I think I show a few signs, but because of my eyes I am forced to put it aside, so I prolly spend a lot less time then most. I would prolly hate to have a job where I sit and stare at a screen all day, I like to be outside running around more. Haha on the cartoons you posted on addiction. I recall one I saw before that made me laugh and an online addiction test too, I'll post you both.

Image

Here's the test and my results:

http://www.netaddiction.com/index.php?option=com_bfquiz&view=onepage&catid=46&Itemid=106

My results:

After you've answered all the questions, add the numbers you selected for each response to obtain a final score. The higher your score, the greater your level of addiction and the problems your Internet usage causes. Here's a general scale to help measure your score:

20 - 49 points: You are an average on-line user. You may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but you have control over your usage.

50 -79 points: You are experiencing occasional or frequent problems because of the Internet. You should consider their full impact on your life.

80 - 100 points: Your Internet usage is causing significant problems in your life. You should evaluate the impact of the Internet on your life and address the problems directly caused by your Internet usage.

After you have identified the category that fits your total score, look back at those questions for which your scored a 4 or 5. Did you realize this was a significant problem for you? For example, if you answered 4 (often) to Question #2 regarding your neglect of household chores, were you aware of just how often your dirty laundry piles up or how empty the refrigerator gets?

Say you answered 5 (always) to Question #14 about lost sleep due to late-night log-ins. Have you ever stopped to think about how hard it has become to drag yourself out of bed every morning? Do you feel exhausted at work? Has this pattern begun to take its toll on your body and your overall health?

Congratulations, your score is: 24

jojo wrote:Copying this question in here for Isis, I told her to post it in here and on the forum too, she'd get more replies. :geek:
think she might be shy to do it, so I am doing it for her. :icecream:

Okay, here's my next random question...

Suppose a pregnant woman is lost in the woods and goes into labor. She gives birth to the baby, but the baby dies within a short time--like, less than an hour--of its birth. Because she has no access to communication and no way to get help, the mother decides to lay the baby to rest by wrapping it up and leaving it in the woods.

What would the chances be of her facing murder charges upon being found?...

Here's my reply from her thread.

On that specific scenario? None it isn't premeditated on her part.

Isis, feel free to post all you want in this thread, happy to have you. :hugs:

To me it sounds like maybe someone dumped her in the woods with out any communication, maybe wanting her to go in labor? I think I watch too many crime drama shows, haha. It all seems weird to me. Who would the father of the baby be? Did he drive her to the woods and left her, did she drive herself? That would be a horrific for any woman who was carrying a baby, especially to let the pregnancy go that far, no way she would then harm the baby on purpose, if she wanted it gone she could have early on. I don'
t see her leaving the baby behind either like was mentioned, you'd die before you ever left your baby behind, not like it would be a burden to take with you when trying to get to people, she might never find the spot with her baby again after that :( All of it sounds odd to me, the police would definitely question her about it. Not sure about murder charges but parents killing kids is a hot topic as of now, so she would be looked at more closely.

Here's my third random question, in two parts:

(1) If a man rapes a woman, gets her pregnant, and she dies from the complications, should that be considered murder? (I think it should.)

(2) Do you think America's rape laws are sufficient? (I think they're far from.)

On your number 1 question... Tricky. Why did she go ahead with the pregnancy? Did she know this man who raped her or was a stranger rape? Is there a reason she'd want to have this baby by him, moral reasons or other? She can get him on rape, not sure if anyone could get him on murder after :( Have there ever been any cases where that actually happened?

2) Prolly not, nor in Canada either, going to check the differences for USA, Canada, etc. We call it sexual assault as do other countries legal wise.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_assault#Canada
Within the United States, about 300,000 women are raped each year and 3.7 million women are subjected to other forms of unwanted sexual activity.[4] About 80,000 American children are sexually abused each year.[4] It has been estimated that one in six American women has been or will be sexually assaulted during her life.[5] Largely because of child and prison rape, approximately ten percent of reported rape victims are male

@ Tsestse, haha oh gawd. I have coworkers who do that, and you know for them it is not by accident. It is creepy and desperate.

@ Jeremy- yes, cyber sex is cheating on your partner.

I will come back tomorrow to answer other stuff I missed and post new questions.

The problem is how do you distinguish between someone using the military for gang battle tactics and someone who's looking for a way out of the gang life? I know that a criminal record can be a show-stopper as far as enlistment goes. When numbers are down, you can get a waiver to get in as long as they aren't felonies. A felony is a show-stopper all the time. This automatically eliminates a lot of gang members. The other part of that is on the recruiter. They have to kind of "feel out" the recruit, see if they think the recruit is being legit. Other than that, there isn't much you can do. Like you said, a full background check is just too much, it's too expensive. So a few will always slip through. That's the unfortunate truth of the matter. The only thing they could do to prevent that would be to ban anyone with ANY sort of police record, which would ban many, many honest people who are trying to join for the right reasons.

Just want to ask a scenario question if no one mindss :D

Ok, say you had a laptop. One of your relatives smashed it on the wall  . You go to get it fixed since you have enough money. 1 month later you have NO sound on it. you take it in to the same one who fixed it. The one who fixed it replaces the sound card. Another month later it does it again and you have no money left to get it checked out. What would you do?

I got 31 on the internet addiction test.
And I want to wake up with the rain

While I'm safe there in your arms
So all I ask is for you
To come away with me in the night

Anyone have a new topic? No, well o.k. then, I saw on CNN a few nights ago an interesting report on the group Anonymous. They are a collective of activists and hackers that gather around certain causes and basically use the internet to create havoc for certain individuals, all the way up to foreign governments. The meme that Jeremy added a few pages back re: The Berkley campus police that pepper sprayed the protesting students was most likely put out by this group. They consider themselves as vindicators for social wrongs. It is being reported that this group is world wide and has had an impact on many world events as of late including some of the Social movements in the Middle East, the retaliation for the freeze on WikkiLeaks, and Occupy Wall Street protests.

During protests such as the Occupy Wall Street events, they can be seen wearing the Mask from V for Vendetta. The Anonymous face. They are also known for using the term "lulz" in their comments on line. They are adept at covering their electronic tracks and will use every resource available to take down anyone or group that they set their sights on.

I think the news report that I saw was intriguing and worrisome. If anyone is interested in this topic, could you please post a link to Wikipedia for this group as I don't know how to do that yet. I'd really like to hear what my fellow DM's think about this group and if anyone knows of other groups like them.

Thanks

This was the group that claimed to take out Facebook on a date in November, didn't they, and guess what- nothing happened. Most of what they say is false threats and posturing and playing into fears others have regarding hacking.

It is self promotion, imo.

What link do you want posted, KRSTY? Is this the one?

Hey Jeremy, Thanks for putting that up. Yeah that's the one. Just thought it was interesting that they could hack such major accounts. I don't know what the truth is regarding this group, but let's say for arguments sake that this type of hacking is becoming more prominent. If world Governments are at risk, and there has been major uprisings in the Arab countries, even U.S. secrets were hacked by Wikkileaks, what's to stop a hacking from being the next terrorist attack? Kind of like that Bruce Willis movie? Anyone think that a major Port disruption, or Major Wall St. Hack or country wide blackout can occur? How much do we rely on our computers and gadgets now day's. What would we do without them. Seriously, I'm sometimes worried that I'll lose my bank card or there could be some kind of blackout that would make people really need cash. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy but, I think nothing is fail proof.

These groups that push their own agenda or beliefs through cyber-terrorism need to have serious criminal charges brought against them. The punishment needs to be severe enough to discourage copycat behavior. I understand disagreeing with the government, or a police agency, and wanting change, but the big issue is these people act based upon emotion, not fact and they do things to further what they want, not what the general population wants, nor do they seem particularly concerned with the general population at all, only their own selfish aims. Lock their asses away for life.

Don't be gleeful. Anonymous succeeded in hacking STRATFOR and the Israeli stock exchange, publishing personal credit card info online, making it open to looters. I have a friend who had his bank account emptied by these "activists."

There is as of yet no precedent for cyber-related crimes, and I suspect nothing will happen until the incompetent Eric Holder is catapulted into retirement.

It also doesn't help matters that this new type of terrorism is supported by irresponsible public figures like that fraud Ron Paul, who has even called PFC Bradley Manning a "hero" and "true patriot" (!).

does nothing pointing this out to a public that despite his credentials, intentionally elects a candidate such as obama in the first place.
i don't believe all is lost, though. this generation is so retarded that their kids will have no choice but to butch up, so it may actually make our nation stronger.

may be another reason a democrat is only put into office every once and a great while

Agreed. The question is, will the current batch of self-serving politicians drive us too far past the breaking point? Will there be enough left to recover?

Thats what I mean. I'm wondering, "how bad can it get?". Also, is this a new type of War? Traditionally wars are fought with troops, sea, air and ground forces.
We always go to war to protect our interests. So if Anonymous thinks it is protecting its interests by committing these acts, isn't it also an act of war? How do you go after an enemy that is spread out within hundreds of countries and never has to step foot on the ground (so to speak) to do insurmountable damage?

We have had conversations here about the Anti Christ, 2012 End of World Predictions and such, but Isn't this group a much bigger, and tangible threat?

You make a good point. In a sense, I think you're right. It's such a new form of warfare, that we're hesitant to label it as such. I think they are a very tangible threat, and one that needs to be taken seriously. Right now, I don't feel like people take them seriously unless they are personally affected. People view hackers as more of a harassing factor than a serious concern.

Cyberespionage and sabotage (Wikileaks) are acts of terrorism (but Attorney General Holder is busy fiddling). Then there's the economic aspect tied to identity theft and other cybercrimes; a study done by McAfee in 2009 pointed to costs amounting to $1 trillion per year for businesses.

And I would prefer not to imagine what a worst-case scenario might look like. If Anonymous, for instance, got its hands on S&P's credit forecasts, or the Federal Reserve's internal documents, and displayed them openly, the damage would be incalculable.

We always go to war to protect our interests. So if Anonymous thinks it is protecting its interests by committing these acts, isn't it also an act of war?
There is no clearcut definition. Generally speaking, though, it is considered an act of war/terrorism if it is directed at the state or the public, a crime if directed against a person or private interests. The fault lines are blurred.

How do you go after an enemy that is spread out within hundreds of countries and never has to step foot on the ground (so to speak) to do insurmountable damage?
Covert operations should do the trick.

No. Not only do we not have a right to know everything, but I firmly believe the public doesn't WANT to know everything, not deep down inside. That's why all political business isn't handled in a public forum. It's like war. People don't want to know all the gritty details. There are some things that people want to be oblivious about.
