So I was browsing the net and commented on a video that I will not say what the subject was about. Someone brought up arranged marriages in the comments section. So I was wondering what are arranged marriages and why do they happen?

I think they are not based on loving the other, a family promise is more what that is, not marrying outside your faith too.

Some may work, I would think one or both involved would resent being forced to marry someone they did not love. Set up for failure, imo.

i am absolutely for arrange marriages in america. i think it should take place now. but it should be done differently then in the past. each person should fill out a dating application at the age of 18. that way by the time the person reaches 21 they are arranged to be married.

the parents don't chose who their children will marry instead it will be chosen by the dating system (date match experts that work for the government). they will look at the application and match you up accordingly. no one will be allowed divorse unless there is evidence of abuse or any other harm.

this will be better because no one will have to go through the hardship of trying to find the perfect match. anyone who wants a relationship doesn't have to worry about being alone. you may also have the option to remain single but then if your caught dating you may have to pay heavy fines or be sentenced to prison depending on the severity of the dating. (of course i'm not serious about all this, i'm just goofing around)

I am glad I read that last part-- where you said you were joking, tropical. I do not think arranged marriages are fair to the young couple, people should be allowed to love who they choose not be forced into matrimony to please two families( parents.) or for financial reasons. This still happens alot in India.

lol yeah, sometimes i like to give a different perspective into things. look at it from another angle.

of course, that. I was previously thinking it might be something like for example: a young nice guy get's set up by a random woman's friends to get married to the random woman he hardly knows while the nice guy get's suckered into it.
