Gender Display Option

Postby Dorn on Thu Jul 21, 2011 10:53 am

All things considered, wouldn't it be preferable if the settings included an option to display one's gender?

Good idea.
There are a few peeps I wonder- male, female, no idea.
I assume some will not fill it in, but more than most would.

I've thought about this as well. If someone doesnt' say so themselves, it can be hard to distinguish. This can be good to know especially when interpreting a dream.

Would you prefer it to be listed under location, as such: (gender:____) something simple like that, and much easier for the webmaster to add, or that gender symbol in blue and pink some forums have? I think for this forum, the simpler way would look the best.

It's not worth the time and effort, right?
I mean how many members are there on this site right now?
How many of those members only have one account?
How many new members who join actually stick around long enough to have an impact?

If you want to know the truth/have someone tell the truth, this shouldn't be an option, it should be mandatory.
But why stop there, why not make age mandatory and penalize multiple accounts?

But the old DM had it, ye truth-telling sage.
And, like Bubbydoll said, the simpler version could easily be implemented.

The old dm was a much different place, and I never said it couldn't be done in here, I said why it wouldn't be done.

I hate it. It reminds of me of this mausoleum, which was gargled in this thread.

At first I thought my code was acting up. (Maybe the webmaster is having one of those herpaderp moments?)

I know, it goes without saying. Especially if administrators have found the time to reverse the position of text and avatar, but not to reply in this thread.

Hello Dream Mooders,

The Gender Option has been added. However, please note that the gender selection defaults to "Male" for all pre-existing members. You will have to update the gender in your User Control Panel --> Edit Profile.

Best Regards,

Thanks!

Incidentally, is there any way to set the default to "none specified" rather than "male"? The reason I ask is because only 0.025% of the listed members are active users.

Although a right side ava was strange looking, I still liked it.
It felt different, also it seemed like there was more room to write and even tempted me to try and become more professional in my post. Hence the silence of that moron, parousia. I even broke the triple 6 post mark on this character, which means very little to you guys but is extremely significant on my end. But now my online notification is covered by the quote option and it just looks like dick, so thanks head.

True story.
