lol well that really depends, are you talking about the Originals or the remakes? The Remakes were a lot nastier, pretty fucking disgusting actually.

The remake.

It was in a short of list of mentioned movies with my friends for Halloween.
If it's disgusting, I want to veto it. :D

What's the original one like too?

It's been a long time since I saw the original, it WAS violent but I don't think it was disgusting like the remakes, IMO it was quite a bit better than the remakes, you may want to watch the original instead.

I wholeheartedly agree. Saw it when I was six and have loved it ever since.

Have it on DVD actually.

yup, it totally deserves all the praise it gets.

another GREAT movie(lol if you can handle it) is the 1986 remake of "The Fly" with Jeff Goldblum, it is one of the most unspeakably violent films I've ever seen, and one of the few Remakes that I've actually enjoyed.

That was a good one. I made the mistake of watching that while I was eating lunch. I think I was 11 at the time.

Now, if you want disgusting, how about Dead Alive? "I kick ass for the Lord!" XD

From Beyond. A science-fiction/body horror loosely based on a Lovecraft short story.

I've been wondering. Could A Clockwork Orange, to a certain degree, be classified as a horror? The events and themes of the movie are rather disturbing, even by today's standards and are entirely feasable. Horror may be too strong of a word though. Definitely a violent and disturbing thriller to say the least.

I LOVE Lovecraft bro, I'm playing this game for PS1 based off his stories called "Necronomicon" it's pretty cool!

I can see "A Clockwork Orange" being a bit of a horror story.

Psychological horror perhaps.

The original Alien trilogy was a major influence on me in my youth and they're still among my favorites.

I hadn't gotten into Lovecraft until recently. Watched From Beyond about a year ago and last night I started reading The Dream Cycle of H.P. Lovecraft: Tales of Terror and Death. It's a collection of short stories that fall under Lovecraft's "Dream Cycle" category of works. I also have Donald Tyson's Necronomicon: The Wanderings of Alhazred.

Definitely enjoying Lovecraft. Love his writing style and themes.

Never really followed Barker, but I've always been a Stephen King fan, particularly The Dark Tower series. My grandmother owns nearly all of his movies on VHS.

I looked into the Embodiment of Evil movie you mentioned. Seems interesting, I'll have to see if I can watch it at some point along with the two previous movies.

I also need to find In the Mouth of Madness, a John Carpenter flick inspired by Lovecraft, and The Call of Cthulhu a 2005 horror movie based on Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos and presented as a 1920's silent film. Apparently, it's received mostly positive reviews with one hailing it as "The best HPL adaptation to date."

But, in any case, what was your take on Event Horizon? I was actually quite fond of the film.

I've seen it but it's been a very long time, I need to watch it again to be able to give a good review of it. I was really into The Dark Tower as well, it will be very interesting to see what they can do with the upcoming movies. if you get the IFC channel they sometimes show the first two movies in "Coffin Joe" series on there, lol a warning though the effects and subtitles are incredibly bad, they also occasionally show some of José Mojica Marins other films on IFC as well, definitely weird and interesting stuff.

lol here is an hilarious Fan Made tribute to Zé do Caixão, it's only 10 minutes long, this guy is DEAD ON with the voice.

I don't have cable, so I'll have to check those out at some other time.

I seem to had forgotten who Clive Barker actually was. I haven't seen any of the Hellraiser films in ages so I'll have to work on that. Apparently he's set to direct a film based on a recent novella which is to be released at some point in 2011. I'll need to do more research on it. He collaborated with Todd McFarlane to craft figurines of the monsters which have a resemblance to the Cenobites.

The film is titled Tortured Souls: Animae Damnatae: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0301252/

YES!!!!!!!!! I can't fucking wait to see Clive's new movie, his films have been so beautiful, yet gruesome at the same time, I'm currently reading "The Hellbound Heart" the Story the first Hellraiser film was based off, I am definitely going to read the story for that new one before watching the movie.

Edit: Upon Further reading The director of the new film has made it clear that he is NOT going with that for the new look of Pinhead, THANK GOD.

Not at all, the new director said that his vision of Pinhead is NOTHING like that design, thankfully.

OMG though I saw the most sickening, foul, repugnant movie ever made last night, "Nekromantik 2" I can't even describe how vile this movie was, it'll take me days to get these images out of my head.

You have to SEE them to truly understand, especially the second one, it is vile, repugnant, and yet strangely beautiful at the same time, one of the scenes though utterly sickening was also one of the most emotional movie moments I can ever remember seeing.

I believe I've found a new favorite in Carpenter's Lovecraft inspired film.

The Original Fly movie was well done. The second one was horrible, Eric Stoltz( correct me?) but there was a scene in the second that always breaks my heart the one where he sees his dog again after it is mutated :(

Yes I have, I've got it on my computer right now, I'm probably going to watch it tonight. You are thinking of the remake of The Fly with Jeff Goldbloom, which was GREAT.

Great minds think alike Butter....I said the same about the remake of The Fly

The Remake of The Fly and it's sequel are two of the most horrific movies I've ever seen, I saw the remake on one of the movie channels and thought it was going to be the original, I put it on and was utterly shocked at the level of violence.

Love the scene when he pukes on his food and says" oh, that's gross" LOL

First Saw movie, Hellraiser and Evil Dead were cool horror flicks.

So what horror flicks in the last 5 years would you rate as well done, Butterball?

I saw the craziest movie a couple weeks ago, called "A Serbian Film" really disgusting and horrifying, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is easily offended lol
