Well really there were many reasons. When military leaders start questioning the civilian chain of command, then yeah you should be worried. Our system is setup so military leaders can't gain too much power, & that's a good thing. Except right now, us civilians are doing something just as bad, we keep giving our government more & more power over us... & worst of all, no one really seems to care, b/c it's in the "interest of national security."

I certainly don't love this guy, but he does say a lot of interesting things. It's completely & utterly ridiculous that the world allows Israel to have nuclear weapons, when time & time again they have shown themselves to be the aggressors. On that note, neither Iran nor Israel should have nuclear weapons & also Iran's civil rights is despicable. So yeah, he says a lot of things that need to be said, be he also goes to far many times. I don't think Israel should be destroyed, but yeah they are out of control, but then again so is the US many times.

Well they aren't using military force. They didn't for India or Pakistan either. With the WTC, & the twin towers, those were terrorist attacks, where people purposefully attacked civilians. In general, even though the US makes a lot of mistakes, the US does not specifically target civilians. Though in the process of hunting down the terrorists, the US has killed quite a few... & yeah Guantanamo Bay... & now Bagram military base... what have we become?

It is a big Job with shoes that are impossible to fill. It is a power struggle. They need to protect the country they need to manage imports and exports... they need to please the people who are oblivious to all else they have to do and they have to stand the public scrutiny for mishaps that aren't even their own doing. Among other things managing all this with the huge blow to their ego they take when reality sets in that despite their best intentions they have very little control over what actually happens in the country where it pertains to appeasing the people.

Can you imagine the pressure that kind of position comes with?

That fucking general McChrystal had to go and he went out fast! Generals and privates FOLLOW orders! Period! They do not make foreing policy nor try to have their own private army. Our Armed Forces are lead by civilians.
