You want people to listen to the band because one of the members of it is hot? -.-

I love this band called Mutiny Within. Great metal band and the vocals are fantastic
Here's my favorite song by them:

Thats a good a reason as any lmao

I'd suggest everyone listen to Cruxshadows... but i gotta say "GET OFF!!! They're MY band!!! ¬_¬" lol but sure, if ya want a gander, go check.

But if you feel a tad threatened by that, go listen to London After Midnight instead :) They're good, I think some of the lyrics are dead hot and they really flame my mood for a bit of BDSM :D

Juno Reactor - Electronic (Many movies contain their songs. Remember the first fight between the man and the woman in animatrix? Their song).
Orishaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssss! - Hip hop
The Slackers/ Ska pe - Ska

I have a whole bunch of them but I'll supress myself, not to write an essay about it. I looooooove music. I want to be a -> :dj:

If you are ever looking for a new group or artist to listen to, you can send me a messege telling me what kind of music you're interested in or some of your influences, and I'll be more than happy to spread the love around. :blowingkisses: The only types I don't know well is the mainstream pop one and metal.

Abney Park~ A steampunk-themed band that has an electronic, goth, industrial and neo-victorian sound.

Wolfsheim~ A German synthpop/darkwave group. The vast majority of their songs are in english.

Pendulum~ An Australian drum and bass group.

Renard Queenston~ Not the artist's real name. He's a Canadian electronic/techno musician who's music spans a wide range of electronic genres. He releases multiple albums under different aliases with each one corresponding to a certain subgenre of techno. These are released within his own record label: http://lapfox.bandcamp.com or http://vulpvibe.bandcamp.com

Tsunami Bomb~ An interesting punk band with a female lead. They only have two albums and can be very difficult to find.

Streetlight Manifesto~ A hardcore punk-ska group. The front man has some pretty harsh vocals that may take some getting used to.

Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution~ A relatively recent group masterminded by the front man of Streetlight. Their genre is difficult to describe but often combines the sounds of acoustic, ska and folk rock.

Liquid Soul~ A jazz fusion group that combines jazz, funk, rock and rap.

The Decemberists~ An excellent band that consists of mostly folk-rock, but some of their work has been described as art-rock, progressive or baroque pop.

MGMT~ An electronic duo described as neo-psychadelia. Their sound has been referred to as "surfing on acid." They currently have one album with another being released in about three or four days.

Kid Cudi~ An intellectual hip-hop artist with an experimental sound. His only album is a record with a plot, told through brief narrations at the end of each track.

Saul Williams~ More a poet than a hip-hop artist, he collaborates with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails on a number of his tracks. His music is sometimes referred to industrial hip-hop.

Devendra Banhart~ A folk rock artist who has been called the founder of the freak-folk genre.

That's it for now.

Well, I try to sneak into any concert I like, but I guess that in my country this is much easier than anywhere else. If nothing else, it's atleast possible. (The ticket price is way overpriced and I'm usually pennyless). It kind of motivates me into tranceforming into a ninja. :infinity:

Kid Cudi is okay. I like a few of his songs. You should check out Jay Electronica though. He's a beast!!!

The Doors~ Hands down one of my favorite bands of all time. A psychadelic, blues-rock group that hit the height of their popularity in 1967. Their lyrics and mood were unusually dark for the time, usually alluding to drugs, sex and death. Jim Morrison died in 1971 at the age of 27 and the surviving members still play from time to time, engaging in their own individual side projects.

The Prodigy~ An english drum and bass or breakcore group. If you've seen the movie "Hackers" you've heard 'em.

311~ An alternative rock/ska group often referred to as "The Cult of Positivity". Among one of my favorite bands.

Of A Revolution~ A rock/ska group most commonly known as O.A.R.. Their lyrics often focus on enjoying the smaller things in life.

The Adventures of Duane and BrandO~ A hardcore rap duo who's theme is classic video games. They take and remix music from specific old school games and rap about the game.

Spiderbait~ An Australian rock group most known for their cover of "Black Betty" which was the theme of the Seth Green film "Without a Paddle".

Tally Hall~ A unique group who's music spans multiple genres. Most of their songs and lyrics are comical in nature, but there's an intelligence in their overall style.

Yoshida Brothers~ A Japanese duo that blends rock with their shamisen skill. They're like the Jimi Hendrix of the shamisen.

ever heard of the band

Postby hectorloshuk on Thu May 27, 2010 9:20 am

But if no one has ever heard of them, then how could you have heard of them? And how can they even be the best, if no one has ever heard of them? Because if someone had heard of them, then somebody, not nobody would have heard of them, thereby negating the fact that nobody has heard of them.

Your statement is illogical.

You're statement serves no purpose and is irrelevent to the current topic. The point of the topic has been clearly stated and nothing of what you have mentioned has been stated by any member of this thread.

Yuri Lane~ A hip-hop/rap artist who combines beat-boxing with the harmonica.

Jake Shimabukuro~ A Hawaiian musician known for his proficiency with the ukelele and unique style. The majority of his music is instrumental.

Check out the Arkells! They're kind of an awesome, down to earth, funny, and Canadian band. They combine blues, rock, and Motown era rythms :) You tube em'. They only have one cd out since they're fairly new and Id recommend any of their songs. I've seen them live a couple of times and you can see that truly just love to be up there playing their music! The singer, max kerman, also has a really unique voice. You gotta love it :)

In Flames - Melodic Metal band from Sweden. First started as a Death Metal band, but evolved into something more experimental and melodic. They are my all time favorite band.

The Misfits - an old Punk Rock band from New Jersey. They are the first Horror Punk band, which means they have some sort of Halloween imagery that goes along with the awesome music.

Pendulum - Drum and Bass/Electronica from Australia. Probably the best in the genre.

Porcupine Tree - Progressive Rock from England. They're like the Pink Floyd of this generation.

Four Year Strong - a Melodic Hardcore/Punk band that just worth checking out

Devendra Banhart~ A folk rock artist who has been called the founder of the freak-folk genre.

That's it for now.

modest mouse
cocorosie
emilie autumn
voltaire
coheed and cambria
LUDO
dresden dolls/amanda palmer

all amazing bands, all definetly worth looking at. i gotta say modest mouse is probably the best out of all of them, because they are pretty diverse when it comes to their sound and their meanings are very relatable. :dj:

Ah yes, BB is good. I'm starting to get more into them.

Sadly the best band ever (by my opinion) isn't as known as they should be. Alter Bridge = music at it's best. I realize how subjective that is, but from a musicians standpoint they're absolutely phenomenal. They're the members of Creed with a different (and much better) singer. But don't let that fool you, they're very different from Creed, though I love them as well. You see, their dynamic as musicians and instrumentalists is far too good to be watered down by mainstream producers or record companies which is why they're pretty self-funded.

Alter Bridge, eh? Haven't heard them in ages. Honestly, I only recall the song "Open Your Eyes" which I loved.

I'm wondering if I could find something in regards to classical and jazz music. As far as jazz goes I only have John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk and Liquid Soul. I have no classical music whatsoever and honestly have no idea where to start. iTunes doesn't help much in my search for Beethoven and Bach. So, an alternative I've resorted to is acquiring soundtracks that incorporate orchestra, to include the Halo OSTs.

Try Pandora.com; it's simple and effective for finding music you might be interested in.

As for Jazz, I only know some modern stuff like the Alex Skolnick Trio.

Skolnick

And in a similar fashion, usually only neoclassical enters my playlists.

Maybe you'd like Jordan Rudess' solo piano album?

An awesome goth-esque orchestra album is 'Seranada Schizophrana' by Danny Elfman.

Schizophrana

And I might as well plug some neoclassical-fringe.

:blowingkisses: The only types I don't know well is the mainstream pop one and metal.

i'm into rock, punk, indie rock, and i think pop rock although i'm not very good at telling the difference between different variations of rock. so if it sounds like rock to me then i call it rock. :eat:

Ah yes, that guy is unbelievable. I haven't even heard his solo album but he's phenomenal in Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment.

If you like Kid Cudi and intellectual hip hop, try out Lupe Fiasco's new album Lasers. This one song "words I never said" is awesome! The lyrics are politically charged and flow beautifully. :unworthy:

Now for my long list of recommendations.

Beastie boys
instrumental album "The in Sound from Way Out" is awesome. So is "Check your head"
MOST anything by Modest Mouse is automatically amazing. Isaac Brock is a poetical genius. Lyrics so thought-provoking and will make you reflect on life and everything in it! Beautiful.
Del Tha Funky Homosapien/Deltron 3030- One of my fav. underground hip-hop artists. He's got some real gems. Funky gems for songs. he's more commonly known as the rapper that appeared in Gorillaz songs such as Clint Eastwood. But his singular work and collaborative work with Heiroglyphics (underground hiphop band) is awesome.
Beatles,Pink Floyd, DOORS - course you all heard of them. But just have to give them recognition for their being the AWESOMENESS that is in classic rock. Especially the Doors, the keyboard, base, guitar, JIM MORISSON. All of them make up the craziest experiences .. which is what their songs are .. EXPERIENCES. Same with Floyd. What i've learned- the longer the song, the better! Beatles best albums IMO - Sgt. Peppers & White album.
Beats Antique and Ravi Shankar you may not have heard of- great hand drums, sitars and tablas.
Galactic(album:crazyhorse mongoose) and Soulive (album Up Here)- FUNKY !!
BLOCKHEAD and Bonobo- Ahhhh love them. I guess you would label them trip-hop? Idk. they're both not so mishmash electronica as others. They are weird, masterly created beats and tracks that sound so gooooooood.
Jazz Liberatorz - just discovered them. Can be smooth and relaxing but also funky hip hoppy type stuff. Like em.
Marcy Playground- so underrated. alternative rock? from the 90s. the teenager in me appeals to them. I like them a lot.
Talking Heads- it's rare that i like music churned out in the 80s. But i really like them. theyre fun. alt. rock?
King Crimson and the Velvet Underground- weird 70s bands that sound experimental, almost psychedelic. but not really. they're pretty cool.
