Shared Dreams

Every since I was a little girl, I've had a reoccuring dream. Some details change from time to time, but the basics are always the same. I'm a three story, white farm house. It's an older home, but it's held up well. The first two floors are fine, but there's an unnamed evil in the attic. The reasons change, but I always open the door to the attic and release the evil which filters through the whole house and affects everyone and everything. At some point, this invisible evil will chase me and anyone else who is there.

So, why did I call this a shared dream? Well, I never told anyone about this dream for years. One day, not so long ago, I'm talking to my mother about dreams. She begins to share a reoccuring dream she's had since she was a child - and it's the exact same dream. There are so many details that are identical, and we had never talked about this dream until recently.

To make matters even stranger, she told me the house from her dream (and mine apparently) is her grandfather's house which I had never seen in any fashion. When my grandmother was a little girl, she had to hide from abuse in the crawlspace in the attic - a fact which I never knew. Parts of her life fits my dream.

The farm house could represent the three generations. I don't know how wise it would be to dredge up old family skeletons, but the fact that both yourself and your mother have been dreaming almost the identical dream for many years, might suggest this is something you (or her) should look into. Perhaps there are some facts that need to be unearthed and person(s) need to be brought to justice. Personally I would proceed with caution and stop as soon as things start to get too uncomfortable as the dream itself suggests that "releasing the evil will affect everyone and everything".

Wow! I never realized that other people out there have this going on too...me and my sister have shared dreams before in the exact same way you and your mom did.

I think that your dream is trying to tell you something about your family. Maybe you need to know this information. But as you unearth things, that is if you want to bother doing some digging around, then I would only share your findings with your mother since she already understands whats going on and can help lighten the way for you. I would avoid involving anyone else because I also believe that the evil in the attic coming out and chasing people may represent an untold truth in your family that people may not want to adknowledge. I think your dream is trying to tell you that what you may find out may have negative affects on other family members should you divulge too much. I suggest just figuring it out for yourself, giving yourself answers. This is you and your mom's dream and since you two are the only ones so far that are sharing it, then you too should be the only ones to look for the answers.

I think the attic is the subconscious place that keeps the things people are afraid to talk about. The fear of the honest openness is the fear that the evil will get out. I doubt that any of you will have the dreams once you are able to feel and communicate openly. Its the suppression that causes the dreams.

Mom and I have been talking a lot about this recently. There are things that I never knew about her family. Oh, and apparently I also have a cousin (Mom's neice) that has had the dream many times as well.
