is this a purposeful dream?

Postby m~is4gruevy on Sat Jun 30, 2012 9:50 am

I was riding with someone when 2 firetrucks were making the same right turn. They both flipped and crashed I rushed over to help pull them from the wreckage. After that a man came out of the woods and attacked me I subdued him and removed the knife he was wielding. I was then called into the forest by a gut feeling standing almost as tall as the trees were these peaceful shadow giants it was daytime but they were looking to the stars they motioned to turn around. The animal kingdom was all crowded together they were saying "help us, help us", they led me down to a river and on the bank was a dead horse shoe crab. I picked it up and broke off its tail then tossed the crab Into the river. A light caught my eye and drew my attention to the source of the river where a man was standing as a silouette ontop of a ledge made up like a circuit board and the water was rushing over it. Splashing drew my attention back to the water, the horseshoe crab was back alive and attacking a fish. I then woke up.

Although it would usually be best to have general background information about you as well as recent events just before the dream in order to provide an accurate interpretation, it’s safe to say that this dream with its friendly shadow giants and talking animals is especially purposeful in showing your basic situation along with a few ideas about how to move forward in the circumstances.

For example, the dream could be suggesting a required change in the first image where you are “riding with someone” as opposed to driving the vehicle yourself. Especially if you have your own driver’s licence, this image could mean that a certain attitude, outlook or general belief etc. might be tending to control and direct your attention and energies too much at times.

The rushing fire trucks could symbolize other internal energies that have been alerted to a condition where perhaps a “fire” of emotion has or could break out in the future regarding some crucial issue.

On analogy, it would be urgent that this “fire” should become more conscious (turning to the right) and that it be put out quickly in order that a “structure” which is a basic part of your personality is not “destroyed”.

In addition, certain aspects of yourself may have to be “rescued”.

Most fire trucks are red and if so in your dream, the color might be suggesting an instinctive rise in emotion which, while being a strong incentive to take action, might get too out of control (both trucks flipped and crashed).

However, your natural reaction to rush over and try to help the firemen is an instinctive and natural one, perhaps emphasizing a need for such a reaction in yourself as opposed perhaps to the generally nonchalant reaction to the potentially lethal BB’s falling from the sky in your other post.

Maybe there is sometimes a tendency for negative, self-deprecating thoughts to appear (man emerges with a knife from the woods), saying such things as “Just pull yourself together and stop acting like a baby” etc. etc. any time you experience some concerns about a certain situation in your life,

If so, the dream appears to be urging you to fight such a tendency and to follow your instinctive gut feelings about the issue which would then lead to your being able to explore it more fully in your unconscious mind (enter the forest).

The peaceful shadow giants likely represent deep, knowing parts of your psyche which recognize, for example, the effects of Fate and Chance on a person (they look up toward the stars).

Perhaps something has happened in your life which has caused your natural instinctive reactions to be in need of some help (the animal kingdom urgently asking for help).

The animals lead you to a flowing river, perhaps suggesting the idea of the flow of emotions.

It’s not clear why you break off the tail of the crab, but perhaps you want to use the long spike as a kind of weapon to ward off others, possibly through some sarcastic and cutting remarks at times.

The dream then might be suggesting that you need to be more conscious of something which could be influencing your life too much (see a flash of light).

The silhouette of a man is seen on the ledge over which the river flows, suggesting perhaps the man you fought off before as well as the idea that this man could theoretically “cut off” the flow of the river of emotions.

This idea is supported by the image of the circuit-board-like ledge, maybe suggesting the mechanical thinking process of a computer devoid of actual emotions and values.

The way out of such a situation is possibly shown by the fact of the crab’s coming back to life.

Since your dream contains mythological elements such as the shadow giants, stars and the speaking animals which come from very deep layers of your psyche, it’s helpful to look at folk tales, myths and fables etc. from over the centuries to help explain for instance the meaning of the crab in your dream.

For example, since the horseshoe crab and other crabs live around tidal areas, they have been linked to the Moon over the ages, that is, to the ideas of night, the Feminine, the changeable, and to rebirth (e.g. like the moon “dies” and then reappears, even in some myths after being swallowed by a crab).

Crabs have a firm shell, often burrow into the sand, camouflage themselves, and skittle quickly forward, backward or sideways.

Also, the crab is the emblem of the fourth sign of the zodiac, Cancer, in which the moon is exalted. The time of the crab happens to be the summer solstice, apparently not very long before your dream.

At this time, the sun has reached its highest point and begins its descent, the idea that there is a natural rhythm in which “blazing consciousness” and thinking (the sun) gradually sinks toward a more crescent moonlike darkness.

The crab rules the fourth house of the zodiac, that of the home environment. This connects the image of the crab to attunement to the natural rhythms and cycles in which we “home” ourselves, as well as to the ideas of refuge and recuperation.

Taking these various ideas into account, on analogy the horseshoe crab could possibly symbolize the strong need for you to be alone inside yourself enough of the time in order to heal and gain rebirth from perhaps some kind of harsh outer situation that occurred or which is still going on.

Doing this through whatever comes natural to you (e.g. drawing, painting, singing, dancing, writing poems, taking photos etc. etc.) could allow inner resources in the form of intuitions, feelings, memories and so on to appear from deep inside you, equivalent in age and wisdom as it were to the 300 million year old Horseshoe crab species.

However as mentioned, without knowing anything about you, this approach to your dream may not fit your personal circumstances very well, but I hope these ideas can be helpful in some way.

Thankyou for the insight, the thing that intrigues me the most is dreams I have always been a dreamer but am coming to a point in my life where I am starting to use them. I met my wife 5 years before I actually met her. And it was followed by dark dreams of demon possesion and killing my future wife then running to my sister asking if the lord would forgive me? She said no and shoved me. For years I have thought this dream was a warning not to get married not to pursue my relationships with women and just focus on running from it and my faith. When I met my wife... Everything changed. A drastic change in myself I was pursuing music and creativity but it completley stopped. I was very scared that I came to that point in my life that "this is the decision of all decisions". My wife is handicapped and wheelchair bound. In my dream she was struck by an 18wheeler. Reality, she clipped an 18wheeler. Odds are not rare but the connection and attraction was uncontrollable. Even outside forces pushed this relationship together. I did halucenigens ranging from LSD to mushrooms and 2ci the mushroom trip is what helped me understand fully the meaning of that dream of the killing, do not kill this rlationship . So I followed my heart I am now married to the girl in my dreams literally. That's a lil about the situation. My very first moment of being conciously aware was a dream of a circuit board and that I was an electrode in the board as a being outside this world of a circuit board was watching down kinda monitoring. I had this up til I was 10.
