Why does he keep appearing in my dreams?

Okay, I have this friend. He's not a friend that I like romantically. I admit that for a while I did have a bit of a crush on him because he's cute and can sing like an angel, but that's faded. Now all I want is to be friends with him. Only problem is that he is painfully shy around me. I'm pretty sure that it's not that he likes me in a boyfriend girlfriend kind of way because he's gay.

Anyway, every so often he appears in my dreams. It's really crazy when it happens and I want to find out why this is happening. Any thoughts anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

The first time was a dream fragment, the two of us ran into each other in a hospital setting. I was wandering the halls when I ran into him. He was sitting at a desk, apparently doing work there. This was very unlike reality because in real life he has a job where he spends all his time outside. We talked and laughed, completely comfortable around each other.

The next time it was a more complete dream. This time it was clear that it was a Christmas celebration. I could tell because there was a sprig of mistletoe hanging from a doorway. My friend and another man stood under the mistletoe and kissed.I assume this other man was probably his partner. Having never met the man, I'm not sure. Later on, my friend and I were in what appeared to be the living room when he told me that he and his partner had decided to adopt a child. He admitted he was scared about it, but was also very happy. He'd wanted to be a father, and now he was going to be. I congratulated him.

The third time was recently and was another dream fragment. For some reason, I found that a large piece of cloth had been buried in some dirt on someone's lawn. I pulled it free and began shaking it off. My friend came along and helped me shake the dirt off. Our hands accidentally touched. When we accidentally bump into each other in real life, we both tend to get a little jumpy and pull away from each other as fast as we can and I at least feel a little awkward. In the dream, this didn't happen. Instead, we continued to be comfortable around each other. We touched hands several more times while working on folding the cloth with the same result.

In all three dreams I noticed that my friend and I were always comfortable around each other. It was almost like we had a brother-sister relationship or something. In real life, things are very awkward between us. I think the reason this happens is because we both feel shy around the other person. Me because he's such a wonderful singer. He because I'm a girl about his age and "he doesn't quite know what to do with me" to quote my mom.

Anybody have any ideas about why he keeps appearing in my dreams?

well, from your 3 dreams, it seems that that's how you want things to be between you and your friend. You want to be comfortable with him. I think you need to talk to him about the awkwardness between you guys. Hopefully it'll clear some things up.
