My ex mugged me

I had a very vivid dream last night where my soon to be ex husband violently attempted to mug me. He chased me relentlessly & noone around seemed to notice or would help me. He beat me quite badly at one point, every time i managed to get away he chased me again.
My ex is one of the least violent person i know, in an arguement situation he would always walk away rather than shout. So i am totally confused by this dream. He left me in january this year & i filed for divorce last month. We see eachother regularly due to having 2 children together, & although the seperation was totally his decision we are 'friendly' & things are amicale with rare arguements.
Oh & the dream ended suddenly as i got woken by my young daughter, so no end conclusion as such.
I hope someone can shed some light on the meaning of this dream.

Maybe the memories of arguments are represented as the beating in your dream, where you are trying to run away but he keeps coming back is probably that you really don't want any contact with him but you are forced to
