Recurring Serial Killer Nightmares?

Postby your vampaneze lover on Tue Jul 24, 2012 11:28 am

I need help figuring out why I keep having this recurring nightmare involving serial killers. I'll explain it as best I can:

I wake up in a nicely furnished basement in my first dream. Within the dream I don't know where I am, or how I wound up there. There is clean carpeting, a couch, a nice tv on one side of the room, and there are pipes along the walls. The pipes are the only disturbing thing about the room despite the fact that I don't know where I am. When I go to move to get up, I find that I can't get away from the wall. My hands are bound behind me to a pipe with rope. However, upon looking around I see another young woman about my age also in the room. She seems pale, scared, and confused, like I am. I have never seen her before in my life, but almost instantly in my dream I feel a strong connection to her. The next thing I notice about her is that she isn't tied up like I am, but is still crouched against a nearby spot on the wall. I'm confused as to why she isn't tied up. We don't speak to each other, and we don't get the chance before someone comes down the stairs. There is a door, and to get to the stairs you need to open that. The door opens and a man, in about his 30's or early 40's, comes downstairs with a young woman. He laughs at me and the other girl, and makes some remarks, then moves to torture us, saying he'll 'have fun with these ones, unlike the last ones'. He goes to a cabinet to pull something out when the woman he's with, who seems to be used to this sort of thing, suggests that they watch a movie first. The two speak for a moment, having a small argument on the matter, before the man relents and they sit down on the carpet in front of the tv to watch, of all things, Finding Nemo. As they're watching this I manage to work my hands free of the binding, and slowly take them out from behind my back. My wrists are covered in rope burns, but when I look at the other girl, I can tell she wants to escape too. I motion to her, and instead of running to the door out, I slowly and quietly try to make my way so that I won't catch their attention, the other young woman very close behind me. We're near the door when the young woman accidentally makes a sound and alerts the man to our escape. Without regard to my own safety, I throw open the door out and shove the young woman up the stairs, giving her a head start and yelling for her to go quickly, to run. During this I feel fear, and although some of it is for myself, most of it is for the other woman. I follow not too far behind her, and when we get to the actual house, it's a very nice house. We both frantically search for an unlocked door, and just as the man comes barreling at us, I find one unlocked and throw it open. Me and the young woman both run outside, and I find that it is unbearably bright out, my feet are bare, and hurt running down the hot pavement. I yell for the young woman to run with me, but for some reason, she runs in the opposite direction from me, both of us escaping from the house, but in different directions. At that moment I feel panic for her, but turn and continue running in my own direction. The woman that was with the serial killer man runs after the other girl, but the man runs after me. I can feel him gaining quickly, and know he's going to catch up to me soon, so I suddenly run out into the street. The 18 wheeler that was driving in my direction almost hits me, but stops just in time. Before the man can do any more I scramble up into the passenger seat and yell for the driver to drive away quickly, still terrified that the man will get me somehow. The driver slams on the gas and we start away, him seeing my disheveled state (I find there that I already have signs on my body of having been tortured and beaten, though I can't remember any of it) and rope burns. He drives me to a hospital, where they take care of me, and while I'm there I ask if they have gotten a patient recently who fits the description of the young woman who was also in the basement with me. They say no. Eventually police start coming by to ask about the case, get details, and try to catch the people who did this. Throughout the questioning I repeatedly ask about the young woman. They say they haven't heard of her, and leave. When they next come back they say that nobody has seen or heard of anyone by that description, nor has anyone fitting that arrived at any hospitals or police stations.

Every time I have this dream it scares me, and I wake up still worried and panicked about the apparently non-existant girl, even though not once in my dream did we speak to one another. What is this, and why is it eliciting such a strong reaction and emotions from me? I need help, I've been having this dream on and off now for months.

The first bit of this dream reminded me of the beginning of the movie SAW, anyways onto the meaning which is just my own opinion I am not a professional at this but this is what I see. The girl is someone or something from your past that you let slip by, probably unintentually, the nice house and nice things seems to be things that have coved up the losing of some part of your life in real time. The murderers are your anxietys about the whole situation in your real life. She runs in the opposite direction because in real life you have lost something or someone that meant a lot to you. The truck driver helping you is because in real life you need to recover from whatever you lost. Maybe it is an old friend you lost contact with, maybe a lost partner, maybe any of those that are now deseased. Or maybe its because your not happy with the life you live now compared to a life you have known in the past? I hope this helps. :)

I'm still having this dream, and it's been a few months. I appreciate the advice given, but thinking on it didn't do anything, so I don't think that's it. :(
