An Awful Night

First an foremost before i say anything about my nightmare I need to say that I am an avid reader and a writer (horror mostly, which ties into my nightmare), trying to compile my short stories into an anthology. Also I am in a process of writing a book.
With that said...the other night I had a nightmare where I was in some town with my fiance and one of my friends was there with us. The town appeared to be dead, so desolate and empty. We made our way to a house, which was a church, and inside, the halls were lined with body bags hanging off of the ceiling. I genuinely was scared and could feel it all over my body. I begged my fiance to get out and go home but she kept urging me to go on. I told her I needed to go to the bathroom and she told me she would go and check if it was clean. She then came back and told me not to go in there because there is a roasted corpse of a man sitting on the toilet. Then we made our way to the hall and there was a woman there, who said that only she can determine our fate and our lives depend on the true answers we give her. When she asked my friend why he came he said that he had nothing better to do so he came. She then burned him alive. When my turn came to answer the question I told her that I wanted to know more about her, about her grief and misery. She let my fiance and I leave.

I honestly don't know what all this means. On one hand I am sort of glad I had this nightmare because I have so much new material to work from, a tremendous inspiration. On the other hand, I am really perturbed by this. I woke up in the morning with such a terrible feeling of dread.

Any input is highly appreciated.

Hey brother, just out of curiousity. Were you thinking inside your head and asking questions like you do when you think to yourself during the day? Or was the dream just happening.

I could actually hear the questions. The dream was unfolding very chronologically, it was happening, I guess. The dream was so vivid, unlike any I've ever had. I could feel, hear, see, think...I had all the senses in the dream which is what stuck with me after it was over.

More than the average nightmare, has anything else been going on?

Well nothing out of the ordinary, just regular trifle stress, I'm getting promoted at work, which I have been anticipating for months now. Also, I'm getting married next summer, but I'm really looking forward to that. I did live through 4 years of war when I was growing up in Bosnia in the early 90s, and I've been getting a lot of pretty bad flashbacks of the war (nothing that really affects my behavior though, I'm in a pretty good mood for the most part). That's the only thing I can think about.

Then you probably just had a really bad dream. As a war veteran myself I'll tell you you aren't alone when you have crazy dreams. The psyche is the greatest and worst weapons ever.
