Predicting the Future... has this ever happened to you?

Postby DreamWithinDream on Sun Feb 05, 2012 7:29 am

Whenever I have a lucid dream (the type in which I wake up in a dream but think I am actually awake in my real life until I discover that I am still dreaming), I find myself partially predicting the future in some way or another. Plus, they follow the same pattern too...

This has happened twice:

1) I had a dream in which my best friend was dating this other friend of mine; I had seen them walking around the mall holding hands (or something of the like) and my conclusions sprung from such. As I "woke up" (lucid dream part), I went to the mall and saw the same scenes as before, thus confirming that they were dating. PARTIALLY PREDICTING THE FUTURE: when I actually woke up, I went to the mall with them two plus some other friends. As I told them the funny dream I had had, I noticed this awkward tension. Later on, the girl from my dream came up to me and told me that he actually liked her (thus, only half the dream was right, even though I had no idea about any of it beforehand).

2) I had a dream in which two friends of mine were dating, for someone had told they were. As I "woke up" (lucid dream part), I asked them about it and both denied it, saying they were just friends. PARTIALLY PREDICTING THE FUTURE: when I actually woke up, I asked them about it, and i had the exact same answers as I had had in my dream. Furthermore, my dream actually became true, though months later (thus, only half of the dream was true, for they didn't start dating immediately).

Fine, this may sound stupid, but it's maybe because I'm not articulating myself well enough. Thing is, knowing these people (and their relationship), and knowing the amount of information I knew beforehand, these dreams were actually scarily accurate. My friends were shocked, for example.

Have any of you had dreams like this?

i love having dreams like this !

my suggestion -- write everything down immediately when you wake up. Keeping a dream journal is a good idea, but can get frustrating. so maybe even get a small bulletin board and write on sticky notes and attach them to the board. Every night before you go to sleep read them, and then you will be more likely to have a lucid dream, or perhaps the same dream again but you will see more details.

Good luck !

Yes! Happens to me all of the time!! I started havin crazy dreams when I was 3-4 yrs old! Started noticing they were weird and started studying my dreams when I was 13... around 15 yrs old I was having psychic dreams back to back!!!! I even had a ton of sleep paralysis episodes & night terrors!! I now, at age 23, absolutely love my gift and look forward to sleeping!!! :) (unless I have a nightmare--hate those--because most of mine I can actually feel pain in my dreams)

Actually yes, it has. But the only thing is, is when i have a dream that comes true, its not something that you would want to come true. I go to sleep with this unbearably bad feeling and have a dream that someone is going to pass away. the next day the person that i dream of passing passes that day. its a strange and scary thing that happens, and it usually happens anytime a loved one goes. I guess you can say my body can tell when someone is going to go and tells me in m dreams so i can slightly prepare my self for it happening. I hope that this never happens to anyone else, because as i said before, it is horrible.
But good luck with your predicting the future in your own way.

i had a dream once when i was standing outside and saw a praying mantis so i picked it up. only it was relatively pretty big and it was really squishy. and it wasn't moving. after i woke up, later that day my boyfriend and i thought it would be fun to go to a toy store and i was walking down an aisle and saw something green and picked it up. it was like deja vu from the dream, a praying mantis. i picked it up the same way i had in the dream and it felt like it was all coming back to me... also it was really squishy, like the kind of toys that are made to be oddly squishy. haha

I haven't had a dream of predicting the future but one day I got home from school at the end of 8th grade and I closed my eyes and a vision of a guy with brown hair and brown eyes (I'm not going to explain descriptions further though I could) and that summer after I moved, I saw a guy that looked exactly the same at the mall.

This I posted in the Mystic Dreams section. I swear it is true.

Regardless of whether anyone believes this or not, I swear to god that all of what I am writing is true. I am telling of this dream so that others will maybe pay more attention to their own dreams and signs - you never know but it could be the universe trying to help you.

About a month and a half ago, I had the most amazing and powerful dream. It was very clear and strong. It was nighttime, and there were tons of different colored fireworks all over the sky. (I know fireworks could symbolize celebration.) Then, a little above the horizon, I saw some very unique fireworks, in a repeating pattern, across the horizon. Fireworks in the shape of a red clock-face (a circle, big hand, and little hand), all in a row. I don't know the number, but it seemed perhaps like 6 red clock symbols across the horizon, all fireworks of this shape. I looked closely to see what time the clocks said, and they all said 11:05. I then woke up with the strongest, most overpowering feeling of KNOWING that the winning Powerball numbers were in that dream somehow. I wasn't guessing or hoping. I KNEW, with the strongest certainty ever.

I sat down with pencil and paper to try to figure it out. The numerology of my dream give too long a list of numbers. I would have had to play probably $100 - $200 worth of tickets to cover all the possibilities. I felt overwhelmed and a bit discouraged. But pay attention here.

I anxiously awaited the next Powerball drawing and when I found out the winning numbers, I was shocked!. (And devastated, also, that I couldn't play all the numbers that could be derived from my dream, and win the jackpot.)

The number 11 was BOTH the Powerball and a regular number. The number 12 was drawn (there are 12 hours on a clock-face, like my dream symbol of a clock-face-shaped firework). And the remaining 3 numbers were all numerologcial derivatives of the time shown in my dream - 11:05. This goes way beyond coincidence. Anyone who would say it is a coincidence doesn't understand odds.

I only tell my tale here so that others will pay attention. Sometimes the universe (or SOMEone) is trying to help us out, through our dreams. Pay attention. You better believe if I ever have another dream like that one, that I will do whatever it takes to play all the possible numbers... so that I could WIN!

Maybe YOU will have a dream like this some time. Learn about numerology. It really is fascinating anyway. I hope my telling about my dream helps someone.

I have a theory that this happens because your brain is interpreting the situation, and makes up a answer based on your experiences with that specific character. The reason you can't access these answers awake is because it lies in your subconscious, and your subconsciousness gets the answers from experiencing how the person acts, what he/she has said, etc, while you are awake. The reason you can access these answers in your sleep is because when you are dreaming, the brain is in contact with your subconscious.

I believe your brain is "predicting the future" because it has lots of information on the person and so it "guesses" the likely answer. Your "prediction of the future" might also be wrong often, it's just that u don't think much of it, since it's "just a dream" and u normally won't expect the dream to predict the real future.

I hope you get my point, this is as I said, just a theory of mine. It should also be noted that this is my first time trying to explain this theory, so it might be rather hard grasping the concept.

I am of the belief that you have seen everyone you dream of in real life. And so it is not that rare that you meet the same person once again. You might just have walked past this guy once in your life and so your subconsciousness placed him in your dream, and you randomly met him at the mall after that dream.

I agree with you, Drew. My guess is that your subconscious assesses the situation, and whatever you dream about is what your subconscious believes will happen. I myself have never experienced this type of dream, but my brother does frequently. In one of many cases, he was close to "beating" a video game of his, but could not get past the "final boss". He tried for hours, but he never could figure it out. That night, he dreamed of a way to beat this boss. (He's never elaborated on how this showed up in his dream, though...) He immediately got up the next morning, did nearly exactly what he had done in his dream, and BAM, he beat it. Again, I know he played through that part of the game enough times that he had the boss's movements memorized, so I'm guessing he was overlooking some detail, and his subconscious (knowing how important this was to him) brought it to his attention in a dream. :)

I've had dreams that predicted tragic events, though they were never lucid dreams. I typically am aware that I'm dreaming, though.

Yes. A couple of days before 9/11, I dreamt that a freeway overpass near my home was covered in all manner of sharp objects. Open scissors, knife blades, scalpels, tacks, etc. were blanketing the freeway as far as I could see. Now, years later, studying dreams tells me that this was a prophetic dream of dangerous traveling conditions, and a warning of what was to come. I wasn't planning on traveling at the time, but maybe could have alerted others? If I ever have that dream again...I'll be warned and I'll pass it on. But I would probably not have the exact same scenario? And most dreams seem to be prophetic. Usually about mundane things coming up in the near future or the outcome of current undertakings.

Way too often! Mostly though it was little things like watching a television show or playing a game with friends. The scariest one i had was when i was on a bus to school in pennsylvania, I dreamt i was in an S.U.V. someone was driving down a street back home i was very familiar with then out of no where i saw two black S.U.V.'s pull in front of them right behind a bus and the S.U.V. i was in crashed into them and i shot out of the windshield. I woke up freaked the hell out  ,then when i had my bearings i called my best friend and was like "Dude, be careful around black  s.u.v'.'s today". At first he thought i was messing around :neer: , some weird stuff had happened to me before so it didn't take much to convince him, thank god. Then later that night after class at like 1 or 2 in the morning :dreams:  he called me and said "We got into an accident." I think the first words out of my mouth were along the lines of who was sitting in the middle of the bench behind the driver and passenger. He told me at first it was our smaller friend but she had switch with someone else who had bigger girth than her so no one shot out of the window. My heart stopped and for an instant i think i saw the accident happen in my mind. :whoa: Turns out it was a single black S.U.V. that had ran them into a tree. They were in a safe car so no one was seriously hurt. Since then he keeps calling me the psychic of the group XD

Sounds like my history! lol except i can't remember anything significant past the age of 15. My sister says she remembers being 4years old but i barely remember freshman year of highschool let alone anything before that. Its mostly just random pictures of things where i have no clue whats going on.

But i remember the sleep paralysis stage x.x before i knew what was happening i was freaking out. Of course the first info i found on it was that i was being abducted.... then i found out what really causes it and I've figured out ways to go to sleep that prevent the paralysis from happening, took a few months to find out what worked and what didn't, for me it was a body position thing and pre sleep mind exercise. Nightmares are the kicker but i look at them as things to learn from and try to set up defenses.

Yup. This has happened to me lots of times. Often times I'll get premonitions in my dreams. It's kinda scary in a way because I have ended up having a few unpleasant dreams which end up coming true in real life later on.
