Hey! thanks I've had an OBE before but I saw my body during that time but this one just sort of mixed up..hmm..can you give me insights about overlapping dreams like knowing and being aware that you're in a dream then waking up and then it's still a dream.A dream within a dream.I've had the most memorable one around January I think. When I realized I was in a dream but there's always a villain like someone is trying to get me every time I realized it's a dream then I begin to wake up then when I thought I had stood up and thought I just woke up, something triggered me again then I realized it was a dream again then every time I blink in my dream I would see my real room then after every blink I would see the scene in my dream which I was aware of.I'm sorry if it's kinda confusing. :whoa: I dunno how to explain it,after I woke up it really reminded me of the movie inception and I felt really tired when I woke up and I keep pinching myself if I was still in a dream.

Hey akasha, It seems like your having a tough time, I'm sorry. A dream within a dream that has happened to me numerous amount of times. One was when I was having a Lucid Dream and I thought I woke up but then when I really woke up I knew that it was a Lucid Dream. It happens all the time it's nothing weird or unknown. I really have no experience with oobe so I have no comment's on that part sorry! Hope that helped! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

Hey! so i'm brand new to lucid dreaming and just need a little clarification :) if i were in a situation where I started to wake up, you suggested to spin around or rub your hands together, but what i'm confused about is if you actually wake up to do those things or if you're asleep and are imagining them happening?

Also, how long do you predict it will take before you're used to lucid dreaming if it doesn't come naturally to you? :) thanks for all your help and info!

Hey there! Yes fear does control me. Even if I tell myself it's just a dream I still feel scared. Like last time I was flying and could control my body. Witch was cool because I usually can't control my flying. But I saw this demon shadow, and it chased me. I didn't know what to do. I think I scared myself awake. Oh and today I tried to lucid. I read this method somewhere. if you lay on your back and relax and close your eyes but stay awake. Then your body goes into sleep paralyzes. Then you open your eyes and you will start hallucinating. Then just close your eyes again and you will be in a lucid dream. Well I tried it. I laid on my back. I don't remember what I did. I think I just fell asleep but it was a lucid dream. I can't remember it because everything was blurry. This rarely happens. I think I was with a girl. But I can't remember what happened. When I woke up I couldn't move. I closed my eyes and I would move but when I opened them I was back in the same position. This scared me me and I started screaming and tried to move. Then I realized it was sleep paralyzes. I tried to move again but couldn't. I eventually got my body to move. Then i got up. At first I thought I had a false awakening and was scared to look in the mirrors. Then I thought I had an out of body experience. I walked around my house and then I got on the computer. The I realized I had woken up already. It was really scary. I've only experienced this like three years ago and it was really scary. So my question is, is there a way to snap out of sleep paralyzes? Moving a finger or making a face helps but I can never move. Also how do you know if your awake? I read looking in the mirror helps but I'm scared to do that because the times I've done that I always see something scary and it freaks me out. I also tried biting my tongue. Because supposedly you can't feel pain in a dream, but I can so this doesn't really help. Anything you tried and worked?

Hey pollito123123, glad to hear from you again! When you're in sleep paralysis you don't really want to try to get out of it otherwise you'll just get frustrated, scared, ect. So you should try relaxing and go into a deeper sleep that way you'll just fall back asleep or into a Lucid Dream. It should be fairly simple to figure out if you're awake, if you really take a minute and look at your surroundings and think to yourself are you awake or dreaming? If that doesn't work then try reading a book or something that has words, look away then look back and see if the words are all jumbled up if they're then your dreaming if they aren't then you're awake. Lastly Think of the last place you were think of everything that you did earlier that day, if you can't remember odds are it's a lucid dream. I don't recommend looking a mirror because when you're in a dream your face is disfigured and it's just terrifying. Hope I helped! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

Hey kissthestarstastethemoon, When you start feeling like you're losing the dreamI suggest you rub your hands together, all though that doesn't always work. That's why we reach Sleep paralysis so we don't act out our dreams. So everything you do is all in your head.
Depends on what method you are trying, If you're doing WILD and you can remember your dreams a lot, do reality checks, ect. Then I say you can be Lucid Dreaming in no time. It took me a while to induce my first lucid dream But I didn't have a method that worked well for me. Experiment, see which method works the best for you. Hope I helped! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

How do you extend a lucid dream? I tried a lot of different things, like spinning/rubbing my hands/looking at scenery/running/jumping/etc. but I still wake up. I can tell the feeling I get and my vision fades fast shattering the dream.

Also what is the technique called where you just go to bed, and lay perfectly still, trying to enter the dream that way.

Thank you!

Hey Gamer M , Could it be that you are getting too excited? There's nothing bad about that it happens to a lot of people. And that technique is The WILD. Wake Initiated Lucid Dream. Hope I helped! happy Lucid Dreaming!

Hello, Thanks for responding!

I don't think I'm getting too excited, as I feel really calm. Like one of the dream characters could ask me a question, and all of a sudden the dream could fade, before I even get a chance to answer them, or the other way around if I ask them a question.

It is always the same way, my vision fades rapidly and I try to stabilize the dream. I tried smacking myself in the face last night, while saying "stabilize", and all of the dream characters looked at me like I was an idiot. Lol. I looked at them and they just stood there staring at me, and I believe the one asked "What are you doing?" I laughed and said my dream is fading. I was trying to stabilize it. They were like "Oooooooooooooh.......okay!"

Then I soon woke up then anyway. :pacing:

Thanks again!

No ideas?????

Nothing else to help stabilize the dream? It seems like no matter what I tried, I still wake-up. What about ways to re-enter the dream after waking up? Please......anything. Thank you!

Hey Gamer M, Sorry I took so long! I do have a few other suggestions. One, try falling backwards. I've tried this once before it was weird and didn't make me wake up but I did lose Lucidity so make sure your at a high level of Lucid Dreaming when you're trying to not wake up. I just found this one, it is called linear accelerating it's when you lost your lucid dream and you're just in that blackness but have not completely woken up. What you do is accelerate through the darkness and break through the darkness into a dreamscape but think of the dreamscape otherwise you could just wake up. Try just saying Lucid Dream Stabilize!!! using a verbal command can work. Lastly, this is just something that I just thought of, when you feel yourself losing the dream sit with your legs cross like meditation take deep breathes and just relax and concentrate on staying Lucid. Also keep trying, it seems like you have a lot of Lucid Dreams so that is a really great start. Concentrate, don't try too hard otherwise it just won't work. Hope I helped! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

Hey berrycherry! If you think you have Insomnia the WILD technique is probably not the best technique to use. I would say go with the DILD technique, (Dream Initiated Lucid Dream) where you use reality checks, a dream journal ect. There's more about the DILD technique in the original post I put not just the comments go check that out! Hope that helps! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

Alright so here's an interesting problem for you I have been trying to Lucid dream for quite some tim and I have been managing fairly well but it seems even though I manage to recognize that I'm dreaming I don't take control of my dream or I can't or something and I'm not sure how to fix that.

I've had this before too. I was tipped off by some outlandish event or response (once I asked someone if I was dreaming, and they said "no" when I was obviously dreaming), but just kept going along the lines I already was, as if I didn't even ponder the thought of taking control of the dream. Now that I know it was something far more difficult to achieve than it seemed at the time... :banghead:

I seem to have found a technique that *almost* works.

You find somewhere to lie down, get in a comfortable position and wait. After about 10 minutes, You start to see things, as if you're entering a dream; you can start interacting with these visions after a little bit.

My problem is: sleep paralysis hasn't completely set in when I can start interacting, so I try to do something and I actually move, pulling me back out of the dream and back to square one.

Is this normal for this method, or does this method just not work for me?

Hey Chairman_meowith, berrycherry, and MagicalWizardDreams, It all seems like you guys are having a level 0 or level 1 Lucid Dream, it's terrible and is the worst when it happens. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTwXeAHgfOk Here's a little song on the layers of Lucid Dreaming! also the guy, Giz who did the video has some amazing videos I suggest you look at them! MagicalWizardDreams, you aren't waiting long enough. You have to wait until you're completely in the dream not just when you're seeing things, when you're seeing things you are on your way! Hope I helped! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

Hah, this topic has some fantastic ideas on lucid dreaming. Thank you very much- I sure hope this works. I'll give it a try sometime this week, possibly even tonight. ^_^

Serious question- for the WILD technique, could i try it when i'm going to sleep for the first time? You see i'm about to fall asleep very soon and i desperately want to try to get a lucid dream tonight. But the idea of waking up 5-6 hours after i've fallen asleep is an uncomfortable feeling. Is there any way it would work for when i'd fall asleep the first time round? (and i have been awake for over 20 minutes lying down and relaxing if that helps :3)

Hey I am just realizing the awesomeness of lucid dreaming and have been frantically searching and studying techniques to begin doing this and would like as much help as possible I have wrote an a on my hand (saw that somewhere for awake rather than ur c for conscience) I also read that taking ginkgo biloba before sleeping will help but I can't because me and my fiancée are trying to get pregnant but I do have loose leaf tea that I think is caffeinated (teavana tea.. I think it is) so does anyone else have other tips that I can do other than cobs well detailed description?

Wow! So i tried the WILD technique because i found myself awake 5 and a half hours after i fell asleep. I stayed awake for just over 10 minutes before i tried to get to sleep and repeated I'm in a lucid dream, like you said. And it worked! :D

I think i got a bit overexited though because i woke myself up not long after i was in the dream.

But this technique was quite annoying- i would personally prefer the second or third technique. But i don't really understand what i'd do with the dream journal... :3

Ok so I tried 2 repeat that I was gonna take control of my dream but I dreamed nothing I woke up several hours later absolutely confused so I tried again and to no avail so then I fell back asleep and repeated that I was going to remember my dream and I woke up this morning with complete recollection of my dream so I wrote it on my iPad and noticed that my brother seems to always be with me in my dreams so I'm wondering if 1 he would be my dream guide and 2 if I should just keep keeping a dream journal so I understand my dreams before I try lucid dreaming? I hope 2 get an answer cuz I'm ot sure if I should put another a on my hand 2day or not bcuz yesterday I kept doing reality checks I made sure to look at the tv every time I did so so I'm at a loss some help plz :D

Apologies for yet another question, as you can tell i've become very interested in this. XD It's so exciting- i've wanted to lucid dream for so long and finally i have a solution.

With the fourth technique, you made it sound as though you get the lucid dream when you wake up in the morning. Is that actually what happens or did i misunderstand? You see i'm willing to give them all a try- see which one works best for me. And by reality checks i assume you mean during the day? And visualizing my dream sounds rather cool. :P This should hopefully be the last of my questions now.

Hey ~MP3 Amplifier~, You could try the WILD technique at anytime but usually doing it 4-6 hours after falling asleep is highly more effective then right after you fall asleep. You need to relax more if you find it hard to fall asleep. (For your next response) Yep! that technique isn't for everybody but hey! If you like a different technique more go for it! (Next question) I lucid dream by waking up like an hour or two before I wake up, so I just do the WILD technique but now I'm starting a dream journal again! Yes the reality checks are during the day. No problem I love answering all your questions! I wish I had somebody to answer all of my questions when I first started. I'm happy I get to help everyone! I hope I helped! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

Hey Catmau5, The ( I Will take control of your dream) doesn't always work. Your brother might be your dream guide and could be a dream sign! Yes keep your dream journal! I stopped with my dream journal and I regret stopping I'm just starting again. It will get annoying but don't stop! Hope that helped! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

I hope 2 get an answer cuz I'm ot sure if I should put another a on my hand 2day or not bcuz yesterday I kept doing reality checks I made sure to look at the tv every time I did so so I'm at a loss some help plz

cob354 wrote:Hey Gamer M, Sorry I took so long!

This is interesting.
I had a dream a week ago, i can't remember anything of it, except that I was suddenly in the dark, completely black, and said "I'm dreaming" and than i woke up.
Could it be then, that I had a lucid dream, that I forgot ?

Hey Alice 777, That is a Level 0 Lucid Dream, four being the highest. Level 0 you notice you're dreaming then right away. Happy Lucid Dreaming!

That's pretty funny.
Becouse I dreamed that, just before I came to this forum.
I had read about lucid dreams, but I had long forgotten.
Maybe it was a prediction that I went on this forum.
I have nothing of these exercises done to lucid dreaming.

Do you know if there are kind of crystal stones that help with lucid dreaming.
Becouse i have a lot, but i dont know which would be appropriate for lucid dreaming.
I also have some crystals guides, but it says nothing about lucid dreams.
Becouse crystals are my kind of thing and hurbs.
I had read that ginkgo works, do you know If that's true ?

I know that laurel works for astral projection, you should chew on a leaf while you meditate.
It is pretty nasty, but you get used to it pretty fast.
It works even better together with a topaz crystal.
The topaz will protect you during your trip.
And always make sure that you have a brown crystal like jasper at hand, in order afterwards to ground yourself again.

Re: How to Lucid Dream (Guide) and what they are

Postby Khadeeja on Thu Oct 25, 2012 12:42 am

Hello :) Been following this thread and now I'd like to share my experience and get opinions whether that really was a lucid dream, or was I just close to it. :)
So this first thing I think was what was called 'false awakening'? I woke up, and as I always do, decided to check the time on my cell. I look and it shows me complete nonsense. So I check another clock, which shows a different time. So every clock in my room shows a different time. Seeing that, I realize that something is not right, and that I must be dreaming, so I told myself 'now I'm going to close my eyes and really wake up', and so I did. What is interesting, now that I think of that dream, when I woke up in it, the lights where on, and that should have been my first sign, but somehow I did not care about that :D

And my recent one, well I wanted to get a lucid dream desperately for some time now, so I've been trying everything I could remember from all the techniques - I have a dream journal, keep pinching myself throughout the day and this time decided to set up my alarm clock to 5 hours later. I woke up at 6, walked around for 20mins, went back to bed and decided to listen to some binaural beats, which kept me awake for 36 minutes more and everything started to annoy me, so I turned everything off and told myself, 'well if I'm meant to have a lucid dream, I will whether I listen to this or not'. It was veeeery hard to fall back asleep again. When I finally drifted off, I found myself in some building with someone I could not see, and we were chasing some spirit :D That someone started dragging me up the stairs when I realized 'hey, I'm dreaming', let go of the dragging hand, and decided that since I'm dreaming I should try to fly :D I rose up and started falling into a black abyss. I woke up in my very dark room and of course wanted to check the time. Again, all clocks with different time. So I pinched myself, and felt no pain, and was like 'I'm dreaming, it worked!' I got out of bed and started jumping in slowmotion, each time I could reach the ceiling, it was an amazing feeling :D Then I saw a huge black umbrella on the floor, I was kind of surprised to see it, but since I knew I was dreaming I felt like it was supposed to be there to remind me nothing is real. I really wanted to go out of my room into the dark hallway, but first I decided to look out the window, and as I started walking towards it, I woke up for real.

I can't tell how amazing I felt when I woke up :D Still with that slowmotion jumping feeling inside, it was an amazing amazing experience. And I felt sooo rested I didn't have to go back to sleep again, although it was still early.
I'd like to ask, can you call the second dream lucid? I feel like it was, but I don't know much about this stuff. Also, I wonder how could I keep myself longer in the dream?:D I woke up so suddenly and naturally, I didn't even have the time to get overexcited in the dream :D
Also, does anyone else experience this very annoying feeling: when I feel that I'm drifting off, I suddenly get scared and I'm back again and my eyes won't stay shut. How to fight this?

Sorry for such a looong message. I pay too much attention to details :D
Have a nice day everyone

Hey Khadeeja, If you know you're dreaming inside your dream then of course you're Lucid Dreaming! :D It just might be a different level of Lucidity. Usually after my Lucid Dreaming session I feel 100% refreshed and ready to go on with my day. I can't say that I remember ever feeling scared and not being able to close my eyes before trying to Lucid Dread :| If you wan't to keep yourself in a Lucid Dream longer try spinning, rubbing your hands together, or just standing perfectly still and try to keep the Dream stable. No It's awesome that you pay a lot of attention in a dream! Don't stop paying attention to details! Hope I helped! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

Thanks for the answer cob354  Since I wrote that, I had one more lucid dream, though very very short. It just fades away so quickly I don't even have a chance to spin or do anything else :D But I'll try, and it MUST work, I'll make it work :D

Postby Khadeeja on Tue Nov 06, 2012 12:24 pm

I had a weird night. Still not sure whether this was a LD or was my brain just playing tricks on me :D So I dreamt that I was having a lucid dream. I was suddenly in my living room, and I did all the stuff I knew I had to do to test if I'm dreaming or not - pinching, scratching my face, there was no pain lalala :D, I even got to look at the mirror, which was not scary, except that I had a weird expression on my face and the top of my head was messed up :D more funny than scary. So it went like a lucid one, but I can't really say I felt in control, and when I woke up I remembered it as a regular dream. Any opinions would be highly appreciated :D

Hey Khadeeja , I would have to say it indeed was a Lucid Dream! Just not a high level, I would say it was a level 1 or 2 lucid dream. Keep working you're on your way! Happy Lucid Dreaming!

Help!!! I would love to learn how to lucid dream, only problem is.... I don't know how to get started or where to start! And I smoke weed at night time and I know that doesn't help practice lucid dreaming, or helps me dream at all! So I know I have to stop smoking at night which is a good start to practice... But I don't know where to go from there! I practice each method on the daily, but I am still not getting any results and I always knock out before I can tell myself I'm dreaming...there was one time I believe I was lucid dreaming but I didn't know what lucid dreaming was at the time... I went to sleep and next thing I know in my dream I went to sleep exactly how I did and I woke up something growling pushing against my back and it was no dog we didn't have one at the time.. than I start to hear my window open, and I saw a black shadow enter my room.. everything felt so real and I was about to freak out because I thought it was happening! Than I started to think about someone who made me happy at the time and as the shadow came closer to me, the person appears slowly in his boxers? Than that's when I knew I was dreaming.. I woke up In a cold sweat too! I just really want to learn how to control what I dream about, because I dream of the most worst things my mind can imagine and I would like to control that so I can actually have my way in my dreams, and have good dreams for a change... So please help!!!!

Hey again!
I was writing a dream journal but I kind of lost hope in it...it was just so frustrating every morning writing out my whole dream. I suppose I got a bit impatient, I would like to try again, but who knows if I'll blow it again. :3
Remember me in those darkest times,
I'm the light at the end of the tunnel,
I'll fill it with ecstasy,
When you need it most. ^_^
