all that happens to me too but the images are so much more....random? like totally, a werewolf fixing a car, and a whole bunch of other stuff i don't remember.....it's kinda cool because i can take that image i just saw and interpret it, without the aid of a partly-forgotten dream :D

nicco99 wrote:actually....i dont think i astral traveled....i think it just took me deep into my mind....cus always before i go to sleep i always here noises and see images flash up before i go to sleep...like i hear people talking...and i see people...i used to be scared of the images that i saw but now it doesnt bother me....like i see car crashes...people being shot....people who had been kidnapped and killed....this one i remember very cleary...it was of a women who had fallen into a forest thing....she landed in the vines....and had been strangled to death...her facial expression was very upsetting...she had blood coming from her mouth...she had put her hand out...as if she was waiting for someone to take it...she had brown hair...and was wearing a blackish sort of dress...her dress looked like it had tears everywhere....she had blood everywhere..all on her face.her hands...her clothing....to me it seemed as if she had been running from someone and had fallen...she was just hanging there.
another time someone had been shot ...i heard the gun shot...and blood had gone everywhere...i think it was a man that had been shot...it looked like he was begging for the guy not to shoot him but the guy shot him anyway....
i hear kids playing in the park...riding there bikes...dinging there bike bells...laughing...
i hear a couple talking at a park...they were having a picnic...

so yer....i dont think i was astral traveling...i wish i could though...

i get dizzy too; if i concentrate i get this odd feeling... i don't think its the vibrations; it's more like this pulsing. also... this is really weird... is it normal for your muscles to twitch whenever you're doing this? the first time i ever tried i might have had it but my face was twitching like crazy and it twitched my eye open and messed me up... :banghead: augh, it was frustrating.

i think i'm getting a little better though. i can be just about anywhere (not just somewhere quiet where I'm lying down) and breathe slowly and close my eyes and after a minute feel dizzy. when i open my eyes i'm really disoriented though... i was bored in french class and did it once and came back feeling so odd... it was funny.

I'd recommend this book: "Out of Body Experiences, How to Have Them and What to Expect", by Rob Peterson. You could find it online or at Barnes & Nobles or something; but what I've basically learned is this:

You can reach it through lucid dreaming; walk around all day asking yourself "am I dreaming?" Try to really fool yourself into thinking you are dreaming. This can get mundane and foolish, but if you do it enough, you just may catch yourself asking it in your dreams. I've done this before and when I catch myself, I either keep on controlling my dream, or let the scenery fade away, and you should end up in your astral body. So that may be an easy yet hard way to do it. But if you stick with it, it can work for you. WEll... are you dreaming? Are you sure? Maybe this is all just a dream! Make sure you're dreaming or not! Are you? Is this a dream? How can you be sure?????

Well, another way is to let yourself start falling asleep, but to rouse yourself beforehand. You need to do quiesce your mind by simply blocking out thoughts; think of it as waiting to hear the thunder after you see the lighting; your mind pauses to listen for the sound. So just pretend something will happen and wait for it. Robert Peterson says that if you can maintain the quiesced state for three minutes, the vibrations will swoop in. To get out, maybe try the attempt on your stomach so that you can do a push up out of your body; or roll out.

Hope I helped; but the book can explain it better and help more.

I travel extremely easily and often have to ask God to watch over me and not let me leave my body if I decide I don't want to.

I am having some sleep paralysis now tho. The experiences are terrifying. I can control my dreams, I can't control this. Travel is dicey at best, but I've never known how to give myself a destination, so I'll follow the advice given here and see what happens.

How can I quickly regain myself during these times? Right now I slip into a state that I believe I am awake and mobile and thinking, only to find out later that I wasn't. That happens more often than not, many times a nite. It's scary not to have control. To me, at least.

Yep, here too.

I am just trying to get guidance. Projecting is one thing, and I''m ok with that.

Oddly enough, it's the "paralysis" that has me so confused. Is it really sleep paralysis? If not, what the heck is it, and why can't I control it??

I'm a lucid dreamer, (I didn't realize there was a different kind until I came here, honestly!)

I just want help.
Please.

alright, so, never had a lucid dream before but i've been trying. one time after learning about this whole astral projection stuff, i really wanted to give it a try thinking that it might give me an easier way to get to a lucid dream. So i went to go take a nap and i thought it was the perfect time to try it. I went and turned off all of my lights, turned on a sound machine, and just laid in bed. I focused on my breathing and imagined myself walking down a staircase or focused on a light i imagined. the point is that your body is asleep but your mind is not. eventually it had been about an hour and my toes started tingling. i felt a coldness starting at my head and slowly coming down to my toes, like a blanket was being laid over me, but cold ;) kept focusing on my breathing. then it was the weirdest feeling. there was like a second me inside and i knew that my astral body was ready to come out (because i believe that every night your astral body literally goes places. its not just your mind dumping out things that you think) So i got really excited and almost woke up, but contained myself, and luckily kept in the right frame of mind. i tried to get my head out but i wouldn't come out. the i tried to roll out of my body and i got my chest of but after pushing to hard, i woke up. it was the most amazing, weird, scary, cool feeling!

I got most of my info here:

Well i don't know. The best way i can describe it is that my actually physical body felt like a shell around my astral body. I felt very very light like i could literally just float out, but the shell was containing me. It was like i had nothing inside of me (which i shouldn't if it's my conscious ;)). i was very tingly and could feel vibrations

Re: Astral travel

I wonder if the Astral plane is the same as the plane when we are awake or it's completely different. Because I once astral-traveled and every bit of the surrounding was the same except that I met an old and strange lady which I touched her but she didn't turned to me to see her face.

Also this morning I think I managed to get out of my body, but I'm not sure because I lost control where I am. I remember I told myself that when I astral-travel again I will turn back to try and see my real sleeping self, so I did it this time and I saw myself as a black ghostly shadow and felt really bad seeing myself, like something was choking me. Have you tried to see yourself?

After that I remember I got up from my bed several times with no success. Once I managed to separate and stand up from my bad a black scene appeared and returned me to my bad, and then again and again. I think I succeeded after several attempts and went to the living room but I suddenly found myself again lying in bed and somehow felt that my ghostly shadow was in the living room and my real self lying in bed. It was unbearable, I separated and didn't knew where I am, I was constantly switching myself like once I was the black shadow and once my real self.

It was so strange that I even think this was not an OBE, but just a regular dream and I dreamed about this just because I want to experience OBE again and haven't done for a long time. Any thoughts?

I believe when you leave your body and experience earthly things or are in your bedroom or something of that sort and out of your body, you are astral projecting, however you are experiencing the etheric plane. Which is the fourth highest subplane of the physical plane, with the three lower subplanes being solid, liquid, and gaseous matter.

The Astral plane is the plane in which the stars and planets exist...

Its is unclear to me what the difference between lucid dreaming and astral projection is.
Because i have fallen into a lucid dream after attempting to astral project... i personally think lucid dreams occur in the etheric plane whereas astral projection is the furthering of that process.

As for how I do... i just focus on breathing.
You will only do it when nothing is on your mind. YOu have to reach a state of meditation. Focus your breathing on your heart rate... get into a flow (if you will) get your oxygen flowing like your blood and think of nothing. Basically what you are trying to do is excite your chakras or energy sources and combine all of them to lift yourself from you body.

The vibrations are simply your energy trying to build up enough to realease your astral body.
Sometimes you can hear the energy building like a buzzing tone where the pitch increases as your energy gets closer and closer to releasing you. ... like a DMT trip before you are shot into the 5th dimension of dramatically intricate variating geometric patterns of energy... if you will. The Dimethyltryptamine molecule is created in the pineal gland and excreted when we go to sleep. So there is a direct (but at the same time uncorrelatable) connection.

There are far too many unknowns to be certain about anything.
And in fact there is no physical way to prove any of this.

So, there are different planes in the astral plane, hmm I didn't knew that. And about that buzzing in the ears, I've experienced it when I first started to experience OBE, but I thought it was my alarm beeping, so I woke up :)

One thing that scares me when I leave my body is that my consciousness can't be at two places at the same time, so maybe I astral travel with my consciousness but I don't know what is happening to my body (for example what is my heart-rate, my blood-flow etc.) Maybe that separation has scared me and made me experience shifting bodies described in my previous reply.

Yeah you are right, there can't be scientific proofs about this and all we can do is share experiences and maybe draw some general conclusions from it.

I've also heard about DMT and I can't wait the release of the documentary at thespiritmolecule.com

It's not a drug(so to speak). It's a spiritual experience.
You won't have fun on it... but you will not be uncomfortable if you are accepting.
I cannot explain the visuals or the feeling... it's almost like putting on earth dimension 5 realm glasses lol... with a bit of swirling interchanging patterns flowing over labryinths o planes. Idk haha definately unexplainable. And not for most people. I know many people who are terrified of it... People who are content with psychadelic trips.
It's above all other drugs... the God if you will. In the spiritual aspect.

Terrance mckenna was on DMT but a liquid form of it which is called ayahuasca ...well that's one kind from the amazon he drank a different kind but it's the same DMT molecule and MAO inhibiting harmala alkaloids, which are necessary to make the DMT orally active
Well he ingested it and with his knowledge of meta-physics ontology, extropy, and eschatology
tapped into the the akashic records (i think i spelled that right) and he devoloped time wave theory. Or i think it's acually called Novelty theory.
Which is basically a timeline of historically important events and how they align in certain ways... and his account hits an asymptote in the middle of November, 2012...
Which is interesting. I don't think 2012 will be a doomsday or anything. But i believe there is a significance in the date. There has to be.
Even if it is a sub-consious shift in awareness which i lean towards very strongly.
There are so many patterns between how things are connected and happen. The complete randomness of the universe that is essentially perfect at the same is amazing. And there is a connection between the dmt molecule that puts us into the dream world and that same molecule that is excreted when we die. Which is why astral projetions are experienced and reported in "near-death" experiences. Everything is conneted through some pattern...
I am dying to figure that pattern out.

All the tests for DMT were done in the 90's by Rick STrassman at UNM... Which is where i attend school.
So that is pretty cool there are definately some hippies in NEw Mexico... I love it! :)

To put it in the most simplest form.

It's when you are in tune enough with your own body to gather your energy to such a point that you can exit your body to roam the universe.

so if you succeed you could be in your room looking at yourself sleeping.
Or if you fail you will just fall asleep of lucid dream.

No! i lied!!!

Astral projection is what i said.

Astral travel is when you travel through the universe above the etheric plane. Which is basically the spirit realm of earth.

Where when astral travelling you travel to the atral plane which is where the planets lie in a way

Well either i don't understand what you said or there is a difference in our beliefs.

I'm honestly not too sure what i believe now that i am here trying to reply to you... lol but i think that our astral body is like our soul and when we lose our body we will be the same except without a physical body to inhabit. So i guess i am saying when i leave my body my consciousness comes with me... our astral bodies are still connected to our physical through an ambilical chord type thing... not literally but figuratively. If you've seen donnie darko you could imagine it as the energy bubble coming from his chest. But our bodies still subconciously function just cuz we are living machines i guess lol.
But i think you wake up just because you are not used to that amount of energy being concentrated at one time so before your climax (lol) or moment of projection you either slip into a dream or wake up... Which i have done many times.

There is much i don't know but i ponder it conastanly.

I remember it happened to me..
There were several nights where I am stuck, I can't move completely even I use my whole strength but I can breath of course and it takes minutes before waking myself completely and there's a night where I can't move again but I sensed outside the door of my room is another dimension leading to a different country where I can hear my relatives in another country.

One night I feel and consciously felt that I am going to astral travel because I feel really shaking I mean my head and I became dizzy and I became scared then decided to stop because of fear then I woke up thanking it didn't happen because thinking something's might gonna happen to me or when I leave my body but few days passed I blamed myself for not going for it because that's only the oppurnity! lol because it took me months trying to astral travel AND UNTIL NOW I DIDN'T HAVE COMPLETE EXPERIENCE OF IT. Though it's been a year i forget and leave behind it and now I came back on a trying again.

Onw time when I was a kid I remembered I dreamed and consciously dreaming, I mean I know I am currently dreaming and I control myself to fly and I did! Was that astral travel? Well If yes I didn't know how it happened without practice or I didn't have idea about asral travel that time

One time again when I was a kid I wake up completely can't move it was dark and I can't breath like I was stuck and suffocated trying to pinch myself but I couldn't!! It last for a while but I survived lol.

BTW I purchased a book about astral travel last year but seems I can't do it because I a just the person who can't VISUALIZE. I just imagine but visualizing is not a thingy for me.. That s*cks.. Imagining and Visualizing is different I guess..

One thing I am afraid :chatter: of astral travel is seeing a ghost that's why this month I can't understand I can't sleep so I had to put the lights on so that I can sleep like "protected" from darkness.. :infinity:

I can't visualize at all...

I honestly feel like when i think it's just black in brain...
lol
if that makes sense.

It's complete thought and no visualization. I guess without sounding like a retard.

But that's why when i do it i just focus on my breathing. It works for me Im just all ADD so i start thinking about all kinds of random shit lol.
But yeah i feel like i missed my chance to do it the first time cuz i ended up getting scared.

But i feel less scared and not surrounded by something else during the day.

I've heard when astral traveling it helps to not try to leave your body during the vibrations as that will likely wake you up. Instead you need to leave your body with your mind and not try to do so physically. Maybe this is the problem some of you are having? Hope I helped. I haven't had a lucid dream or OBE in a while so I plan on trying tonight when I go to sleep in a minute.
Life is just a really shitty dream that I've had for years.

this is the second forum i'm posting this on....last night i was trying to lucid dream and remembered someone on here saying that they were always able to go to sleep while their mind stayed awake. i tried that.... while i was doing that i thought that i might want to make sure that i ended up in a dream where i'd have a chance of being lucid. so i started imagining this white padded room.... no doors or windows.... with "YOU ARE DREAMING" written on the walls everywhere. as soon as i started to imagine i was in the room i started feeling tingly and vibrated a bit.... i heard a buzzing noise.... i realized that i must be accidentally astral travelling and decided to go along with it. i just focused on my breathing.... but since i'd been trying to fall asleep and not astral, i was all curled up instead of laying out flat, and i never completely lost my sense of touch and eventually the vibrations faded.... does anyone know how to actually get out-of-body easily?

Monkeygaard, if you don't leave during the vibrations, when DO you leave?

The vibrations are like your body resisting... you have to go beyond that.

For me i just focus on my breathing and keep it constant. And i have to be lying flat on my back with my hands at my sides that's the only way it works.

Everyone is different though...
i can't picture things like you said you did.

this morning when i tried to go back to sleep i kept hearing that noise!
it happened four times and each one sounded different: car horn, trumpet, bell,...and i forget the last one.
then i had the most terrifying nightmare ever.
except i was also awake....but i was too scared to move, and i couldn't make the voces stop.
