I had a very lucid dream last night that left me wondering what it means.

I was with a group of people in a city (London) I think.We were all very dressed up (dinner jackets and ladies dressed in long gowns). I was being driven round in a large taxi/mini bus. The other people seemed in very high spirits and were laughing and joking but I did not seem to be part of it. I had the sense that we were all part of the same party but I was in a different mood to them. I was sober and reserved and felt like an outsider. As the dream progressed I came to realize that we all worked for the same firm and that it was relocating and that we were going after the party our separate ways. I did not recognize any of the people in the group in terms of being able to put a name to them. None of the faces though very clear could I recognize as being someone I had worked with. It was through sights and sounds that I pieced together what had connected me to the group.

I saw a lady in the back of the taxi who was wearing a long white evening gown. She looked very elegant and had a matching hand bag. Her face was pale, attractive rather than beautiful. When I saw her I got the impression that we had gone out together but the relationship had fizzled out. I tried during the dream to find some clarity about what had happened with her. It was like peering through a fairly thick veil I could "access" some vague memory but nothing except the people and surroundings in the dreams were clear.

The taxi/mini bus travelled along and a man from the back got up and walked with a bottle of champagne towards the front where I was sitting. He was swaying and talking to another man near to me. The driver was getting irritated and slammed the breaks on hard. I lurched forward violently and the man standing up nearly fell over. I was unsettled by the wreckless action of the driver.

We reached the destination which was a fairly large building with a large wide hall that had lots of paintings on the wall. At the destination there were lots of people in evening wear who were drinking champagne. I found that I quickly became separated from the group I was with in the taxi. All through the dream I felt as though I attending a party but not belonging. It was like I had received an invitation and accepted it but the host and the other guests did not really want me to be there. I did not want to get drunk and join in with the party as I felt the more I tried to join in the more marginalized I would be. In the entrance hall I spoke to a man who had drunk quite a lot. He told me that he knew where I could find the rest of my group. I did not want to engage with him as I felt that he would attempt to trick me of have a laugh at my expense.
