Sleep paralysis

Postby sirry on Mon Jun 25, 2012 4:41 pm

Recently I have been dreaming that i am in a state where i am awake from my dream but I can in no way move any part of my body. I try to scream but no sound comes from me.
I just woke up from one just now but in this one i could feel a person lying down next to me in the bed and putting his arms around me. It is someone I know really well and in the dream he could not hear me even if i tried to talk to him, and I got a feeling he did not want me to know of him even if it felt like it was the place he wanted to be.
I used to have dreams like this often some 15 years ago but in those dreams i could see someone standing next to my bed watching me and i got scared in the dream.
Is there anyone out there who has an input on dreams like this and why we fall in to this state, and even help me in how i should understand this dream.

Hi i see that you have had the samething i have. Where you feel paralyzed and cant move. Thankfully for me i have been able to wake up when i complete a task in my dream. Let me ask you this have you ever felt that you were going to have this numbness before you actually went into your dream like i have.

Hi!

I've had sleep paralysis twice. The first time scared me, I panicked and I felt that weight but then a calm voice in the corner of the room told me a message. I couldn't move at all, tried wriggling fingers, shouting for my husband and as I soon as I came out of it I ran out of bed lightning fast!

The second time, I couldn't sleep so I took a duvet down and slept on the settee, sometime during the night I opened my eyes and realised I was in paralysis, I told myself to close my eyes and try not to panic. Then, this is when it goes strange, I distinctly remember getting up, rolling up the duvet, going up to our room and climbing into bed. When my alarm went off in the morning, I was genuinely shocked and confused as to why I was still on the settee as I remember even negotiating the stairs in the dark!

I don't know how to induce this, but I'd like to see how much further I could go ..

Thanks for the replies and sorry I didn't reply sooner ..

Crazeekityy - funny you say that as my arm and thumb go numb, it's like, when I feel the numbness it's too late as I'm already there.

Sirry - that sounds like the paralysis. I understand that when you have this, you are supposed to feel as though something is pressing down on your chest, I've never had that but I've felt the presence near me.

today i had a dream that i was sleeping on my left side which is the same position i fell asleep and woke up in, and i dreamed that someone came and lay behind me and was holding me down, i screamed and i moved in a way to try getting away but i could not. even tried opening my eyes but didn't happen. i did not see who the person was but it was a guy for sure. nor do i feel like i know this person
it's not the first time i dream't i was being held down by someone or "something". i used to have these dreams at night but now they usually occur to me during the daylight. sometimes i felt a little pain on top of me.
