Specifically for losing weight? Not at all. Can i get a rough idea of ur BMI so i can give u more specific advice?

If your fat, and you want to lose lots of weight, i recommend not eating sugar, read the book Sweet Poison by David Gilespie, this will get you to a normal body weight within three months.

If your already at a decent body weight and wanting to shred that last little bit, i think cardio is the way to go. a bit of muscle helps to maintain a healthy body weight, but you can work out without weights. (calisthenics) look it up. I'm glad you asked this question instead of pursuing weights, because for you it's a silly choice.

I rushed this response, if u need more info, hit me at David.Twyman@Hotmail.com , put the subject Health Advice please, otherwise i'll think its junk mail. Hope i've helped a little bit. and i HIGHLY recommend sweet poision, if you can give up sugar, it will make you feel so much better all the time, it's so stupid our society hasn't picked up on the problem yet. people still harp on about fat foods as if their bad hahahah. I'd rather scoff a whole packed of potato chips then a chocolate bar any day. honestly, if u cant get the book, read about it online, its eye-opening stuff.

This is kind of late, by like a year.. =P but anyways... I do agree with Dngr1 about the sugar. Its the NUMBER ONE reason why people are overweight. It takes a change in diet to lose a ton of weight safely and effectively. Research cinnamon and biotin also. The cinnamon in basic terms helps your body burn off sugars as energy before it is able to be stored as body fat, and biotin allows the body to burn excess carbohydrates, fats, and proteins and use them as energy also. A good read is "The secret to six pack abs" It has a list of foods that naturally boost metabolism and shred any excess that you do not need. One thing I do not necessarily agree with Dngr1 on is the no need for weight lifting as a method to burn fat. This is actually what I recommend to include with your usual cardio routine. There is so much detail to go into, but you can research all this yourself on several different websites. Basically its muscular endurance training. You would never do a high weight and always do between 15-20 movements 4 times with 30 seconds of rest in between. What this does to your body is allows your muscles to perform in low strenuous activity for longer periods of time, the second major thing these types of activities do is increase your metabolism. It does this because muscle requires more energy than fat does. I hope this helped out.

Those are good activities to do, but weight training is VITAL for everyone, especially young women. The sooner you incorporate weight training you reduce the risk of getting osteoporosis (women being especially susceptible). Weight training strengthens the bones of the body and reduces how much calcium is lost later in life.

i belive yoga is far superior to weight training especally with things like osteoporosis, becasue it work with the bodies endorine system that leads to better calcium storgage and distribution. weight training is like yoga's, younger, slower and slightly retarded cousin.
