Scenes from The Motherland

Postby Seale on Sun Jan 08, 2012 1:54 pm

Hey folks.

I was feeling a bit bored, and nostalgic, so I went through some old photos from my trips to my country of birth, Bosnia. :)

Bubby's photo thread kinda made me want to do something similar, so, here it is! My very own photo thread. :D

Oh, and, if anyone is like me, and feels homesick from time to time, please, feel free to post your own photos, of your homeland, town, whatever. :) I'd love to see where people are from!

Anywho. PHOTOS.
I'll probably be back and add stuff when I feel like it.

More will come. Eventually. :D

As I said before, purdy purdy. :P
My head is tilted skyward,
eyes searching the night.
Forgive me, I'm a dreamer.

"Pooh!" he whispered.
"Yes, Piglet?"
"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."

These are lovely piccies and memories, Seale. I especially liked all the mountain/water photos and makes me pleased if my lil thread gave any bit of inspiration, thanks.

This one is especially nice:

aww, cute kid, can't see the face, still. :heartpump: That pic looks so much like the mountains around my house.

Those are some great pics. What are the little house/shacks on the river? Did you leave because of war and conflict? Will you go back to live?

They're old water mills. :) And yeah, we fled Bosnia a few years after the war started. I probably won't go back to live there. At least not now, or in the nearest future. Maybe when I grow old and retire, I'll return. :)

Nice photos, what year were those taken in the 80s?

For tourists, sure, it's no problem. There are pickpockets and stuff, but you'll find those anywhere. :) Exploring nature on your own is not advised though, as there are many, MANY areas that are still riddled with landmines. There are signs everywhere, though, and you can find guides. It's a lovely place to visit. Truly gorgeous. If you want to play it even safer, though, Croatia's a good alternative. They have a long coastline and a lot of history. :)

I'm assuming the compliment's for me, so I'll take it before anyone else claims it. :D Thank you, Drew. :)

Actually, all of them were taken in the 00's. :D The first ones just look awful 'cause they were taken with a horrible old digital camera, and I had to do SOMETHING to them, so... I made them look older. :) And thanks!

I think I'll use this thread to post other photos of other things. Not necessarily just the motherland. :) But I'm going there again this summer, and I'm bringing my cute little DSLR with me, so I'll be taking a ton of photos in June-July. :D /Excited.

Here're two photos I took today, that I'm kind of proud of. Both were taken on a beach near my academy. :)

Image (This was SO much fun - hammocks on a goddamn beach. Whoever thought of that is a genius :D )
Image (A monument on the beach. These fellas are pretty large.)

I'll update this when I remember it. :D

There's a simple explanation for that;

they're Danish. :)

I used my annoying manual focus-only lens the other day, and I took a nice portrait of my grandmother. I'm really happy with how it turned out, so I'm going to put it here. :D
