So, I fell asleep watching a comedy on my living room floor, on my stomach with my head facing my left shoulder. I woke up and began to lift myself up and a strong weight was forcing me down. I could not speak. I struggled to move but I was paralyzed and I remember feeling the pain and struggle in my muscles and I began saying prayers in my head. I could hear whispering laughter to my right. I started to think you are not going to do this to me and I felt hot breath in my left ear and a voice whisper "I didn't ask what I could do to you". I then realized i was dreaming and could hear myself yelling "open your eyes" and my eyes shot open. I woke up wondering if I was truly awake and actually began to give myself instructions to move parts of my body one at a time. What do you think this means?

This is probably a case of sleep paralysis. Before we sleep or right prior to awakening we are kind of in a state of half sleep/half wakefulness. During this time it can be quite common to see disturbing or wild images, hear voices, etc. There is a theory that the body puts itself into a semi-paralyzed state to protect itself from doing harm by moving around too much. Many people have experienced this phenomenon. Just scan this site for examples.

At any rate, I usually do not pay too much attention to the visions or other strange happenings during the sleep paralysis type state as they are poorly understood.
