Entered a dark home with difficult light switches

Postby raymond1234 » Tue Jan 16, 2018 5:19 pm

13 January 2018 Saturday

I dreamed that I walked to a home on a hill. It was
getting dark. I saw several people at the bottom of
the hill that I knew, and I looked in their direction
casually, but I did not say hello or wave.

I walked up a set of brick steps and tried to open the
front door, but it was locked. I found another
walkway and approached the door. To the right of the
door was a window and I tried to raise the window to
see if I could enter. I don’t recall why, but I
remember not wanting the people at the bottom of the
hill to see me enter the home or I wondered if they
thought I would be breaking and entering if they saw
me enter. The home was not my own, but I remember
thinking that I had to check on it, to ensure
everything was well.

Suddenly, I entered through a door that I don’t recall
opening. The room was dark, and I tried to flip on a
light switch to brighten the house. There were two
light switches and I had to flip them up and down
several times before the lights worked. I took a few
steps and suddenly, there were several people in the
room. I was standing at the side of a dinner table
and a woman was on the other side and she told me that
it was okay that ‘she’ (another woman that was not
named) would come by and program the light switches
later. She said that they were tricky. I asked her
if they were ‘Lutron' because they can be programmed,
and she said ‘yeah, I think that is what they are’.

I sat down to eat with 6-8 other people at the table
and I recall that the other people were friends of
each other but I was the odd one out.

Then, I woke up.

Perhaps it represents the idea of new friends and enjoying yourself.

And the light switch in the room was a new
beginning and the friends I did not acknowledge were
old acquaintances.

Just a few ideas.

Ultimately you are rejecting those you know around you.. and forcing your way into another's home and circle of friends.. that's odd for sure..
The best interpretation is the dreamers own interpretation.

Yeah, that is what it sounds like.

I have met some new friends but I have not forced myself around them but that is what it sounds like in the dream.

Maybe the dinner table suggests that it will be bountiful, like a Thanksgiving dinner etc...

Thanks

Assuming you’re going with the intrusion theory.. it doesn’t necessarily mean you actually are intruding in real life, just that you might be subconsciously worried that people might feel that way. The dinner might be suggesting you don’t need to worry about those things? Also, perhaps, in the dream and perhaps subconsciously for real, you don’t want your old friends to feel bad that you’ve made some new friends?

The start of this dream is a set up to think about relationships, so most of the comments concern relational style, and are off for that. Dreamer perceives self above others: more important, more power(?) This appears as fundamental wish.
Attend to the light which is about perceiving and knowing, which dreamer finds tiresome. Switch suggests a wish that it be easy and automatic. Then picture an Other automatically agreeing with dreamers prefigured and irrelevant way of thinking, another wish, that the fantasy of special status would give immediate control to define what is real and what matters for others. Is dreamer functioning as caregiver/controller in any relationship.
Of course, the bad news for this maker of grandiose childish wish dream is that nobody matters that much.

A home means a partner/ crush /friend.
She does not let you in ( locked door ).
You try an unusual way ( window).
Dark means misleading in the true way of life.

Good ideas. The friends I have are only casual friends, there is no one in my life that I center around.

I think the dinner could be a symbol of success, new beginnings.......bounty.

Maybe the locked door and having to enter another way could be a suggestion to try something different, nontypical like entering through the front door.

Maybe it means a new beginning.

The locked door means that the old way of life is ending and a new one is beginning.

The woman I spoke to might be a new relationship and it might be successful because of the light and the dinner

In case you don't know, Lutron is a higher end, more expensive brand of light switches and electrical products. They are designed to be more pleasing to the eye and are often found in more expensive homes.

Thanks

The switch from dark to light might be a change, like a new day.

Yeah, I wish it would be easy, life does not have to be difficult.

No, I am not a caregiver.

I don't think eating dinner is grandiose.

Thanks.

The grandiosity is in the fawning automatic agreement and mimesis when dreamer accords self the power of naming and omniscience about what is real and meaningful.
