Dream about a kangaroo

Postby Subobo » Mon Jan 08, 2018 9:56 am

Can anyone shed light on a dream about a kangaroo? In the dream I was sitting down on a sofa with my friend and this very large kanagaroo approached us. He wasn't doing anything at first just starring. Then he decides to jump on my lap and keeps starring at me. Because his face was getting a bit too close and I was scared I pushed him off and then he bit me although there was no blood or mark or anything. He eventually went away and I woke up.

For context I'm currently unemployed but working on a project of my own with my friend who was in the dream and we generally have a great relationship.

Any ideas what this means?

Thanks
Subobo

The location of the bite on your body could be the key.

Left is the side of the heart - feelings, desire, passion, cause.
Arm is to reach out into the world to have an effect, to make a difference.

Kangaroos are also quite unusual animals ..... so why a kangaroo? You could try to word-associate and see what kangaroos mean to you. Down under? Scary, amusing, cute? Every detail in a dream is there for a reason, often the tiniest detail gives a clue to the whole dream.

Something I read in Jung which really pays off in dream interpretation is, don't ask 'Why this?', but 'Why not that?' Say you dream of a grey cat, for instance. You ask yourself: Why was it not a white cat, or ginger, or black? A white cat might make you think of purity, a black one perhaps good or bad luck, etc; a grey cat is inconspicuous, it doesn't notice, so perhaps it means a 'shadowy' person.
There has to be a reason why it was a kangaroo, rather than a dog, say, so it might be interesting to look at that.
Unless you do know a pushy Australian! :)

rp's good and model advice that the significance of a given symbol is how it represents the projections of the dreamer into the symbolic order.

Dreamer's own animal nature. That species is exotic unusual, therefore animalistic self mostly unknown or foreign to this dreamer.
