Strange dream about a mouse

Postby The Area 51 Dreamer » Sun Nov 05, 2017 6:19 am

In this dream, I see a mouse that is located in my Dad’s side of my parent’s room. I use this technique that my Mom taught me. As I performed the act of capturing the little subject, I screamed urgently for one of my parents to get a plastic bag in order to secure the mouse. When I put the rodent in the bag, I informed the little critter that he/she was under arrest, under the Criminal Code of Canada. I’m like that. When I caught a mouse for the first time in real life, I said basically the same thing to it.

A mouse means a young teen girl somewhat not religious.

I get the feeling that’s not accurate. I’m not a Police Officer. I just tend to want to make Citizen’s Arrests in my waking life. To my disappointment, I just don’t get many opportunities to perform one. The reason for that desire is purely out of curiosity, what it’s like to do it.

Perhaps you speak to the youth about morals :If an honest person dreamt her hands were tied or cuffed means she will cease the immoral affairs.

Perhaps. However, there's no teen girls in my life, and I doubt that there's any girl in my life engaging herself in anything immoral.

Although in order to provide a more accurate interpretation it would usually be best to have some additional general background information about you (and a description of events just before the dream), here are a few ideas that can be tried out to see if they might fit your personal situation in some way.

For example, based on analogy, your dream about catching the mouse and officially arresting it could mean something like you might not be letting in enough of your normal instinctive reactions, intuitions and feelings etc. This is because animals in dreams usually symbolize our instinctive side, and you might tend to be wanting to keep this part of you too bottled up for whatever reason.

If so, various unaccepted emotions etc. might sometimes become annoying “mice” which are “scurrying around” in your unconscious mind in the form of little anxieties and fears etc. Of course, this could potentially spoil your sense of relaxation and contentment at times, and if this kind of situation exists, the dream is trying to show you how this could be going on so that you could maybe gradually work at learning to accept this part of yourself better.

Anyway as mentioned, without knowing anything much about you, this way of looking at your dream might not fit your personal circumstances very well, but I hope these ideas can be helpful in some way.

Please feel free to ask any questions or to make any comments about this particular way of looking at your dreams.

Sounds a bit more accurate. I'm not sure if the phrasing is relevant. But, I'll provide it, regardless. When I arrested the mouse, I basically said "Little mouse, under the Criminal Code of Canada, I am arresting you on the grounds of Trespassing. As a result, I will personally escort you off the premises.". However, it really does seem like I have been suppressing certain reactions. For instance, if someone corrects me, I might try to defend my stance on a certain viewpoint, and the other person might treat me like I'm inconsiderate for simply not bending to their viewpoint.

In any case, the comment I made about me "arresting" the little rodent is basically due to me wanting to make a Citizen's Arrest, someday, in real life, just to see how it's like. However, I doubt that I will get much chance at doing so, as I've been informed of legal complications for doing so.

This citzen-arrest fantasy is what motivates many law enforcement pros: the power to force others to be nice.
The point to the defensiveness described as self-assertion is whether it is a strategy for growth and repair, in which case a good move, keep it going. Otherwise, a truly thoughtly over-reaction or revenge-taking, then it looks like part of the Authoritarian Personality (type F) that wishes to control others.

Hi again,

Maybe when someone corrects you and you try to defend your stance, your way of doing this might, for instance, sometimes tend to be a little too strong, perhaps from unconsciously feeling slightly hurt underneath. If so, it could be that the other person then treats you like you’re inconsiderate, not because you didn’t bend to their viewpoint, but maybe because you came across, for example, as being even slightly too direct in your manner with them. Of course, these various complications could tend to make you feel even more hurt underneath, perhaps adding to some very understandable but mostly unconscious discomfort in having to deal too often with other people.

This situation might even possibly be underlying why you want to make a citizen’s arrest someday (although as you’ve been informed, this could lead to various unforeseen problems). For instance, when arresting the mouse, you invoked the Criminal Code of Canada perhaps in order to gain a sense of strength and power when dealing with others which you may not feel as having overall, just like most of us don’t really feel either. Also, your statement suggests, as mentioned before, that you may not like the symbolic mouse of unpleasant emotions to “trespass” and to “gain entry” into your awareness very often, again a response which we all have.

To help relieve any such overall problem, maybe you could brush up on your assertiveness skills in order to be able to stand up for yourself while at the same time doing so in a way which won’t ruffle anyone’s feathers. A couple of time-tested and reliable books on how to do this, and which therefore could help you to manage all kinds of touchy situations if necessary, are “Your Perfect Right: Assertiveness and Equality in Your Life and Relationships / Edition 9” by Robert Alberti and Michael Eammons, and “Asserting Yourself” by Sharon and Gordon Bower. These are available on such websites as Indigo and Amazon etc. where you can compare prices.

In any case, I hope that these additional thoughts can be useful, and please don’t hesitate if you have any additional comments or questions.

What is the point of thane speaking for the dreamer and then imposing requirements and methods for change? That does not elucidate the dream. This dreamer has already expressed what works for it so far, is fairly open and clear enough, and deserves the courtesy of acceptance of being itself.

I'm trying my best to learn be assertive, as I find that some people just want to impose their beliefs on me, and I know I have to stand up for myself, more often.

you've got a quirky sense of humor, Area 51

Clicks tiny handcuffs to mouse: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.

Yes, I do.

And, in all honesty, I actually considered doing that, though I didn't want to contradict my involvement with the SPCA as a Volunteer for them in real life. I manage the website's content for my local SPCA Branch, and I wonder what they'd think about the use of handcuffs made for mice. Ah, well. The joke you made is humorous. :D!
