Bad Party

Postby bellaquarian on Wed Jul 25, 2012 11:00 am

I had a dream last night that my bf threw a party at my house (in the dream it was supposed to be his house and even though it started as my house the party was in a room that isn't in my real house). The guests at the party were all ppl that I don't get on with very well. Some were his friends but many were ex family members from an old relationship. Nearly everyone at the party was being rude and hurtful towards me. Strangely, a major disagreement took place when some of the guests at the party decided that we would order food from an expensive "diet" program restaurant because they were on a particular diet. In the end I was being alienated in my own house at my boyfriend's party. I woke up feeling really distraught and couldn't get back to sleep.

We generally don't hang out with many ppl and have never had a party. We've been dating for about a year and have been going through some rough patches lately. I don't know what other information from the dream or situation that would be helpful so please ask if there's something that could help interpret this dream.

I can't make much sense of this... particularly where the diet part comes into play and why my ex in-laws would be in it... so any input would be welcomed.

Thanks!

Is your boyfriend from a different culture than the one you were brought up in? It sounds like there could be some really disruptive differences that may cause problems in the future. Like maybe even something like you were brought up Christian and he wasn't??? Or vice versa???

Dear Bellaquarian:
I'm going to assume that the fact that the word 'aquarian' is part of your screenname probably indicates that you strongly identify with the concepts underlying what is called 'the Aquarian Age." Also, you may even have your astrological natal sun in the sign of Aquarius. And everyone is familiar with this archetype. But when most people talk about what this means they say things like "futuristic" or "concern for all of humanity." What they usually don't talk about are concepts like "eccentric" or "revolutionary" or just downright contrarian. And your question, 'what part of my dream gives you that impression (that the two of you are from different cultures) is a great example of "Aquarian" energy.
The problem with answering that question is that if you don't already GET where it comes from, then there is NO WAY to explain it to you in the space and time we have here, not to mention the fact that it was a CORRECT assumption! The British culture is very different from the culture here in the US. I say this based on direct input from a writer friend of mine who has published many books and who was raised in Britain. We have had numerous conversations about that very subject.
YOu also requested further input about your dream. So I need to ask you an obvious one - have you changed your diet recently, and if so, are you comfortable with that change? Or are you under any pressure to change your eating habits at this time? If not, then you may just be doing what most of us are right now - reevaluating what you put in your body. I mean, my God, they've outlawed supersized sodas in crazy, whacked out New York City!

I was born an Aquarius and had a hard time coming up with a name for an email account years ago... Aquarius is something I will always be no matter what so I found it fitting... this was in the days of chat rooms instead of FB etc so I merged my screen name "Bella" with my astrological sign to make one word bellaquarian... I am a creature of habit and am not a huge fan of change.

I do relate to the characteristics of "typical" Aquarians but also have a past that gives me some you wouldn't expect.

In any case, I have not recently changed my eating habits nor do I intend to. I am not thrilled with my body type but eat healthy foods and stress the importance of balance in my home. I would be wise to consider more activity but "dieting" would not really benefit me. Maybe body image plays into the dream but I would like to note that the "diet" part of the dream was introduced by a very heavy girl in the dream who also has a very large, controlling personality (you could describe it as "if she's not happy, nobody's happy" type of attitude).

I do get that our cultures are different and always will be although I will admit I am still puzzled as to how you gathered this from what I originally had to say :/ . I have had SO many dreams lately that I would love to better know how to decipher some of what my subconscious is telling me. Some I can gather on my own... but some just make no sense to me at all.

As a side note... I don't know if it makes a difference but he lives here in the US and has for a decade and the friends in the dream were from the US as well.

Bellaquarian:

To be continued. Please have patience with me as I've had an explosion of hassles to deal with in waking reality. Will get back to this asap. Okay?
