singing the wrong lyrics

Postby Soulkiss333 on Tue Mar 13, 2012 3:32 pm

Like KRSTY said I'm sure we all have tons of them! I just used the same one I used in the other thread too tired to write up a different one right now!

What song have you ever sang along with for a long time until one day you found out you were singing the lyrics wrong?

Example: for me, talking about the Stones again , that song "Beast of Burden" and I always thought he was saying... I never be your Easter Bunny instead of Beast of Burden. I remember I was just around 5 when I started listening to the Stones and I guess I thought the lyric was about breaking up with someone because he says...put me out with no shoes on my feet etc. I thought he was using Easter Bunny as a pet name...how adults give each other names like sweetie, pooh bear etc. So yeah...I finally found out when my dad decided he didnt like rock anymore and I got all 738 of his Records (yes vinyl) and I was looking at all of them one raining day and I saw the Stones and started playing it and looking at the art work on the cover when I noticed the name Beast of Burden, I was 18 when I finally found out!!!

But I will even add a little bit more to this question
Which song lyrics have you changed on purpose?

Example: the song Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult...the part where they say "Go, Go Godzilla" me and my siblings would sing to my mom when she was nagging or anytime this song comes on...we change it to " Go Go Nagzilla"
http://youtu.be/9I0_QMWFpH0

put the song in if you can because I would like to go back and listen to it and try see what you were hearing.

One minute and 28 seconds into the song I hear him say "feeling like a ham and mustard shake".
But I know it has to be something else.
S.T.P.
"interstate love song".

Shawn Mullins - Shimmer

THe first line of the song, I know it goes "sharing with us what he knows"
but I always hear it as "Sharing with us, sweaty nose"

For years I'd been merrily singing Stevie Wonders song... "Mary's superstitious, writing's on the wall, ...", before my partner went, what? And pointed out it was in fact Very Superstitious

Another one from my early school days - my version of Waltzing Matilda

"All sing the tilta, all sing the tilda, ya'll come along sing the tilda with me!"
I was a nipper at school, and it was before I migrated to Oz, so I was allowed to make that mistake!

I always wondered what a tilda was, and why we all had to sing it *sniggers*

There was someone on dreammoods, back in the old dreammoods, who thought that lyrics where:
What's in Matilda

I forgot who it was though, maybe they are still around
