I don't actually know why I never listened to Jimi Hendrix much. Like I mean I love older music I just never got into him.

I watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show the other day and it's one of my fave films, so:

I'm currently listening to SRV on Op Mike's recommendation! It's good (thanks Mike!), but to me feels a bit more rigid and restrained than Hendrix playing live - something that seemed too 'far out' for my tastes at first, but I grew to love. I don't listen to him often, though, despite thinking he's the best guitarist - maybe his style draws my attention too much for me to focus on other things?? It's good to have a mix...

So, you're welcome, Frag. (May I call you Frag?) And thanks for the turn on to St. Vincent singing Nico's Dumbo.

I grooved on Iron fucking Maiden one day on Slayers behest. Great heavy metal. Of course if Iron was fucking Maiden, then she would no longer be a Maiden, would she? Just saying.

Love Rocky Horror picture show, Vikki. In my hometown, there was one theater that would play it every Saturday night. I would go with my friends from time to time. There were "regulars" who would show up in full regalia.

And now without further ado, the original left handed guitarist playing a right hand guitar:

Nice choice, Mike!

Frag is fine with me...I don't even know what my name means - it popped into my head one day when I was young...and stuck in there for some reason!

If you liked that, check out the pipes on this Russian doll: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3vikhYD_ho

I like a bit of metal too, now and then!

Nice singing, Frag.

Slayer, one of Iron Maiden's best tunes is Seventh son of a seventh son. The Appalachian mountain people have folklore that says the seventh son is blessed with special powers, including healing. So, I guess that the seventh son of a seventh son would have even more concentrated powers. This band is English. The folklore probably came from Europe. Ever heard of this over there?

I heard this Elton John tune on the way home last night. It flashed me back to another time when I lost two friends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfY5566r0QA

Hello again my friend,

Thanks for Elton, my favourite of his must be Rocketman - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6Re0cXJkb0

I vaguely remember that folklore from somewhere, the seventh son reference makes me think of the fantastic White Stripes - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTXuPydruvk

Slayer is maybe a bit heavy for me, but heavy is good sometimes. Led Zep is a whole different kinda heavy!

To Frag: Great rendition of Rocket Man. Never heard Maynard Keenan.
The White stripes link gave me a message saying that it was banned in my country. So, I typed White Stripes ball and biscuit into You tube the old fashioned way and picked one of many pirated versions. Warms my heart to know that blues based rock n roll will never die! So, they allude to the seventh son folklore as well. Wonder where and when that originated? Are we talking middle ages or ancient Sumeria or Shinear?

To Vikki: Interesting change of pace. Yes, that is heavy! Reminds me of several years ago, when my son put a band together. Their original music was rock for sure. The venues called it punk, but there were more hard core punk rock bands that would play also, like Slipknot. Once, I watched this band with an impressive singer singing that Devil Boy sound. I was amazed that such deep guttural sounds came out of this wispy thin kid. I went and complimented him after the show on his voice. Then I see him with his Mom. He was whining to her that some of the other bands were insulting him. She had her arm around him and talked to him like he was a baby. Maybe you had to be there, but I had to walk away so I could laugh. This monstrous evil lead singer needed his mommy!

I listen to such a mix up of music though and can fully appreciate the hardcore gutteral demon sounds. They're hard to do. The best ones are the ones that come out of girl's mouths like it's insane.

Anyway that's so cute. "Mommy, the other bands were mean to me."

Damn that's a band I haven't seen in a long time. I used to listen to them all the time when I was younger. Then again I'm pretty much a big fan of any English bands.

I'm back at Dax cause I ordered one of his vinyls and I'm so excited for it

I don't listen to much classical music, but Erik Satie stands out for me:

Roberta Flack takes me to a higher plane. No song expresses that better than her version of Leonard Cohen's Suzanne.

Flack's performance of that song is like she is some dangerous enchantress out of The Magus.
