Okay I dont usually come on here, but this has been bothering me.

Everyone pretty much knows what gun control is right? Well, what do you think? Should we allow guns to be carried or not allow them? See.. guns kill people, obviously. But what if that gun was used to injur or kill a rapist or robber? Is that so wrong?

Is it the weapon or the wielder is my question. I want to hear somebody elses opinion other then my hippy grandparents.

i don't see why not.

its the person behind the gun doing the killing. even a yo-yo can be used to strangle someone or your bare hands. a beer bottle can be smashed against the wall and used as a knife, etc.

But what if that gun was used to injur or kill a rapist or robber? Is that so wrong?

if you hear that your next door neighbor has commited murder and then you kill him because of that then what makes you any different. your better off calling the police. but, if he/she is trying to kill you or anyone else in the moment then yeah, blow his/her brains out.

I don't like guns and am against people having them unless for hunting etc with liceince and so on.

I grew up though in a country where guns are not in our culture.
I've had the gun debate many times with guardian and can now appreciate the opposite opinion of mine but my personal opinion will never change.

i don't think so. if someone is determined to kill someone their going to do it regardless. maybe if we eliminate guns people would use bombs instead.

it seems like killing is more environmental then anything. we may have more guns then mexico, columbia, or south africa but you'll be a lot safer in america from murder.

get rid of illegal drugs and the obession with money and watch the murder rate be reduced dramaticly.
but i don't see that happening anytime soon.

You hit the nail square on the head. Criminals are cowards and don't feel like getting shot for your purse/wallet.

@smiles- Tell you what. Instead of preaching my beliefs to you, I'll let you see for yourself. Look up murder rates for DC, New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Chicago and DC have the absolutely MOST stringent gun laws in the country, in fact, their laws at one point made it impossible to legally own a firearm at all. These laws have been struck down by the supreme court, but they continue to make it as difficult as possible for the law-abiding citizen to own a gun, yet they continue to have extremely high crime rates.....cities with more permissive gun laws have lower crime rates. Do the math hon.

Interesting topic and to answer the question, look up the Crusades.... There were NO guns in that era.

On-topic in general, yes, people should be allowed to carry firearms / handguns with them IF they proved to be mentally capable, kinda like a driving license.
What they are going to do with the gun it's their problem and they'll answer to Someone or Something when the time's right
