alcohol can "free" the spirit but it can also stop people thinking which is what spirit is all about.

like with most drugs you can use it to develop your spirit but it relies on using it in the correct way.

Depends on my mood and how much I've drunk. But I used to meditate nicely after a few glasses but not when drunk.

I don't enjoy drinking much anymore, the hangovers are worse and I tend to just tire and sleep after a few glasses.

I think it can impair your perception on everything, doesn't have to be about spiritual messages.
Drinking impairs your driving skills, and it changes how you behave around other people. It can make you very sociable or it can make you agressive if someone rubs you the wrong way.
If it affects you in these ways, how would you perceive something that is supposed to be spiritually enlightening?

What occurs when you consume alcohol that makes you believe this? I would not know, I rarely drink.

Well, I'm a christian. And according to what my church (Assembly of god) you will go to hell unless you ask for forgiveness.

But the Baptists (that I know) think you can get to heaven if you drink.

I just choose not to because my Parents where Drug and alcohol addicts.
