Lol, Sir with your memoir of dinners they are not so imaginative; not one for cooking?

Hi everyone,

I took a few days off for the holiday. Happy Birthday GG, one day late!

Starreborn, congrats on the successful Thanksgiving. I hope its one of many to come.

Cassie, maybe you could make a cookie cutter. You might be able to get strips of metal at a hardware store or craft store and shape it into a dog. Otherwise, I think I saw them at a pet food store...to make cookies for pets!

OK, I hardly post here because I hardly ever cook. But, I made my traditional family recipe for turkey stuffing and stuffed our 22 pound bird (that's about a stone and a half, Vikki) on the night before Thanksgiving. I used to use day-old bread, but found that bagged bread crumbs works better. Also, I used to add my own spices, but the bread crumbs with spices added works just as well, so:

Two 12 ounce bags of bread crumbs with spices ( I use a brand called Brownberry)
15 eggs
one bunch of celery

Finely chop the celery and put it in the bowl...

I put the bread crumbs in a very over-sized bowl, one bag at a time. add a dozen eggs and pour some water over it. mix to get them soaked and even wait a few minutes...then mash like mashed potatoes...now add the second bag and get them all mixed in, the last three eggs and stir. Let set and mash again. add water sparingly if needed...you want a consistency like dough, soft dough.
Then I shovel into the bird with a big metal spoon while my wife holds it open. She then strategically places about six quarter pound sticks of a good tasting margarine. We put the roasting pan (complete with stuffed turkey) in the frig overnight. In the morning add water and bake. Baste occasionally over the five hours or so (at 325 degrees F)..that's 163 C..when you baste, be sure to baste the stuffiing.

Everyone always loves this stuff!!!!

Peace,
OM

Your stuffing sounds epic.

I haven't really cooked anything in a long time. The last thing I really cooked was a dinner of yakisoba for my family some time ago. Essentially a stir fry dish.

I use freshly chopped ingredients: Broccoli, garlic, green onions and chicken breast.

I coat the pan with sesame seed oil to prevent sticking and toss in the meat and vegetables, stirring occasionally as they cook. While that's going on I have some noodles (Honestly, I use spaghetti noodles) boiling, which are then strained and plopped in the pan when ready. I then focus my attention on stirring the noodles and ingredients together, adding sesame seeds and occasionally adding soy sauce as I stir. Now, usually I stir in a bit of this Korean hot sauce to give the dish a little kick, but my grandmother hates spicy food so I set the bottle on the table for everyone else to add according to preference. Now, don't ask for temperatures, measurements or times because I really don't keep track of those things. I just go with feeling I guess.

The ingredients can be added to or substituted with whatever combination of meat and vegetables you want. I made a batch once using strips of venison that turned out pretty damn good.

I think next time I'll make two batches, one spicy and one mild. I had planned to make some for dinner Saturday night but it was late by the time I got all the ingredients and I didn't feel like cooking.

I used to cook chili, red beans & rice and spaghetti but it's been a while since I've had the opportunity. Apparently, I can grill some pretty good burgers as well.

Sounds pretty darn delicious, but I'm with Grandma, give me the mild!

i've finally pretty much finished up my turkey day leftovers.

so maybe tomorrow, i will eat something entirely different, or nothing at all.
