Something I want to share.

Got something on your mind? Get it off your chest! Talk about anything here...well almost anything.

Something I want to share.

I always try to do what I know in my heart is right. The other day a customer came through our drive through screaming absolute bloody murder at his children. To listen to it was brutal, I had to take off my headset. I came to the window behind my other co-workers who were also curious and saw that the kids in the back of his car were tiny, one was around 2-3, both were little girls. The man was very visibly drunk and was driving a bright green Dodge Charger, something I knew he probably raced in.

I volunteered to take his order outside to him. When I went outside he was leaning into the car screaming at his daughters again. He saw me coming out with his food and staggered over to me, he was so drunk he could barely walk. I handed him his food and could smell the alcohol on his breath when he said "Thanks". He sped off.

I took his license plate and I called the police and reported him. I never did find out if they found him but I hope to god they did. This is a situation that saddens me to the bone. If that man killed himself in his car that's his own fault... but his daughters haven't done anything to deserve something like that. They don't deserve to have to die in a car with him because of his own faults. They don't have to be subject to his rage and belligerence. No one else that he could potentially hit and kill deserves to lose their life over the stupidity of another.

I hope the cops found him, tested him, saw how unbelievably wasted he was, and took some action. If not then at least I tried. I knew no one else would call even though it was the right thing to do. So I called.

Good for you.

I am very against drunk drivers. But his poor kids. I know in many places the police force have down sized due to budget cuts. I know I been behind a drunk driver before (usually they drive really really slow when I am behind them), anyway I always call as I am behind them but the police tells me they have bigger things going on or they have no one in that area unless there is a wreck their not coming. But maybe it is not that way where you are and if you mention the kids maybe they will put an importance on it. Hopefully.

I was going to say sometime else

Oh, I remember, it is good you call because they done lots of research and experiments to see how ppl react in situations...almost everyone who takes the suveys say they will get involved if they saw someone hurt or in danger etc., but they found less than 15% of ppl actually gets involved one of the biggest reason (ask ppl after the experiments were over why they didnt do anything) was that they assumed someone else would do it or call for help. So good for you  You are one of the 15% who doesnt only said they would but actually do.

Thank you Diclonius!  I'm proud of you for taking action, any action, for what you felt was right. As Soul already mentioned, too many people just don't, and the world will never improve if people don't act.

Good job. You did the right thing.
His poor kids.

@ soul. That's sad they have other things more important which is sad all over again.

Some of mine and hubby's biggest arguments have come from him either wanting to drive drunk or wanting to get into a car with a drunk. Thankfully I always win those ones.
He understands now though and hasn't done it in years.

It's just not worth the risk.

I would have beaten the living crap out of that drunkard. There's one thing i don't tolerate about parents, and that's swearing, insulting or beating your children.
I saw stupid moms that were beating the hell out of their children for as little as an ice-cream that melted and felt off. I wanted so bad to kick their asses back to their backwards redneck houses.

Parents, corporal punishment is something needed sometimes, but a slap or a spank. But when you mercilessly beat your kid, you're nothing more than an animal and you deserve a prison gang rape.
My 2 fucking cents.
Thanks Diclonius for taking action. You could have saved those 2 girls.
Be good. And if you're not, be good at being bad

Well done and I applaud you and your actions. Finally something positive on here to cheer for. I wonder if any one else any where that day that saw him drunk and swerving behind the wheel reported him or were you the only courageous one. I had a good friend killed by a drunk driver two years ago, disgusts me too that people will still drive drunk.

You should be proud of what you did. I really liked your post and you probably saved a lot of lives if they took him off the streets and removed his drivers license.
