I think about how painfully simple that statement is but how much it can address a large magnitude of issues in daily life.
Rum, money, comedy, food, joy, why is it always gone?

So last night I was thinking about that story about the tortoise and the hare who race and the tortoise ends up winning and the whole "slow and steady wins the race" saying. I honestly don't agree with this. I mean seriously, in the story the hare speeds all the way to the end and like 20 feet before he gets to the finish like he decides to take a nap. Not because he's tired, he could have just as easily hopped the last 20 feet and then napped but he decided to stop right before it because he was so sure that the tortoise would not catch up. He got cocky and figured he could beat the tortoise even in his sleep. If he hadn't have gotten cocky and done that and just ran across the finish line he would have won hands down, so saying "slow and steady wins the race" makes no sense with this story. It should have been "don't get cocky. Keep your head and be humble" which is another important life lesson. Don't pick on someone just because you know you are better at something than them, which is what the hare did and it ended up biting him in the butt.

I agree with the previous statement about "humility" bieng a virtue.
Too many things get drummed in our heads as we develop.
We totaly forget the origional story and all the lessons envolved for the sake of saving time we will follow the crowd.
I find it fascinating that someone mentions this "now-a-days" when so much of the world of edjucation has changed.
All any one can do is follow the crowd.
Or at least thats the new product that our edjucation system in the U.S.A. has produced currently in my encounters.
Every time my job hires a "newbie" its an odd process to find what subjects are deleted from this freshly graduated brains ciriculum.
I have found that Algebra is gone. History is a Joke. and Classic material like the above post is only..."novelty".
Still I think there is a slight hope.
Not Everything we digest in modern culture is a sequel or reinterpretation of an older Idea.
Then again is it?

I know the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, but that's because they water it! I really want to do something different but seem to be paralyzed by fear of moving forward/invoking change............but I've learned time will go forward whether I take a risk or not. There are times, that are rare, when I look at my daughter and am hit with the realization that I have a child. That I am responsible for this little creature's intellectual, moral, and emotional well being. And I think "oh shit". But then I realize I've been doing just fine all along. Raising her is second nature, and occasionally my brain shits a brick when it realizes what it's been doing.

When I had time for one I had one yes.
But Im much more of a dog person.
That cat would bring home Rabbits and other "Varmets".
So in a manner he was better than a dog. Verry low maintenance (if you can imagine).
