Panic attacks while sleeping?

Postby k_henderson_1 » Tue Aug 29, 2017 10:02 pm

Does anyone else have this? I'll be having a dream, sometimes I don't remember the details, but I'm aware I was having an extremely disturbing dream. When they're like this, I have a distinct impression that I should be glad I don't remember. Other times, I'll be having one of two recurring dreams that I have frequently. I'll be feeling anywhere from a little uneasy to desperate panic in the dream. When I wake up, I'll be having a full blown panic attack, or will feel like I'm recovering from a panic attack that just ended. It's very upsetting, the feeling sticks with me am day, and has scared my poor husband pretty badly too. Any thoughts?

You need psychotherapy.

Dreams aren't real, but our mind makes them real. Some people experience extreme trauma in a dream and wake up to that area hurting because our minds make them real. While waking up to a panic attack is unsettling, its not something I would be wildly concerned about. I'm sure that seeing a counselor might shed some light on this, but I think it partially is just going to come down to how you decide to handle things in the moment. Will you let the panic take root and keep you afraid, or will you work toward calming down and overcoming the panic? As someone who has experienced panic attacks I know that sometimes you just can't stop them, but there is always a decision you can make once you have calmed down to not let it take root in your mind and let it scare you.
Best of luck to you!

ey cannot recognize that this dreamer's only interest is getting laid, and tries to triangle the dreamer into its hatred project.
