Dreaming that you are completely or partially naked is very common. Nudity symbolizes a variety of things depending on your real life situation.

Becoming mortified at the realization that you are naked in public, reflects your vulnerability or feelings of shamefulness. You may be hiding something and are afraid that others can see right through you. Metaphorically, clothes are a means of concealment. Depending on the type of clothes you wear, you can hide your identity or be someone else. But without them, everything is hanging out for all to see. You are exposed and left without any defenses. Thus your naked dream may be telling you that you are trying to be something that you really are not. Or you are fearful of being ridiculed and disgraced. Such anxieties are elevated especially in situations where you are trying to impress others. Perhaps you are in a new work environment or in a new relationship. You may be expressing fears or apprehension in revealing your true feelings in such situations.

Nudity also symbolizes being caught off guard. Finding yourself naked at work or in a classroom, suggests that you are unprepared for a project at work or school. You may be unprepared in making a well informed decision. With all eyes on you, you fear that some flaw will be brought to public attention. You fear that people will see through your true self and you will be exposed as a fraud or a phony.

Often times, when you realize that you are naked in your dream, no one else seems to notice. Everyone else in the dream is going about their business without giving a second look at your nakedness. If this happens in your dream, then it implies that your fears are unfounded; no one will notice except you. You may be magnifying the situation and making an issue of nothing.

If you dream that you are proud of your nakedness and show no embarrassment or shame, then it symbolizes your unrestricted freedom. You have nothing to hide and are proud of who you are. The dream is about a new sense of honesty, openness, and a carefree nature. Perhaps you are trying to get to the “bare facts”. Alternatively, the dream may be telling you that you are drawing the wrong kind of attention to yourself. You want to get noticed, but are going about it the wrong way. nakeddream1|Flimsy Nightgown|I'm sitting on the bus and realize I'm in my flimsy nightgown. What am I going to do? I end up getting off the bus downtown and walk towards the building where I work, trying to ignore people staring at me. Very uncomfortable feeling.

Hi Darla,

Your dream suggests that you are torn between two different roles in your walking life. There is a conflict between how you feel and the role you are taking. Your flimsy nightgown no doubt makes you feel exposed suggesting that some aspect of your waking life is making you vulnerable. The notion that you are on your way to work, further suggests that your vulnerability is rooted in a work-related situation. Perhaps you feel inadequate in your work performance.

Amy nakeddream2|PE In The Buff|Last night, I had a dream about my Advanced PE class. Everyone in my class was playing naked in the field. Then somebody said some profanity. My gym teacher heard the word and we had to go run laps in the nearby woods. There was a x-country race running too and nobody noticed that we were running naked.

Could someone please tell me what it means?

Thanks,

|Hi Sheena,

Your dream may be telling you that you are making a big deal out of a minor situation or comment. Everybody else has moved on, but you still remain fixated on some matter. The notion that you are running laps, suggests that you are going in circles and going no where. You need to move on and set your mind to something more productive.

I hope this helps!

Amy nakeddream3|Doorless Stalls|This is a dream I have very often. Not only am I completely naked, but I am in a very crowded public washroom. There are people I know and some that are complete strangers. The worst part is that not only am I naked, but there are no doors on any of the stalls and I have sit there with people staring at me. Sometimes it also feels like the stalls are very small and I don't have any room and have nothing to cover myself with. Strange ?

|Hi Jennifer,

The notion that you are naked and in a public washroom indicates that you need to express and/or release the emotions, worries and fears that you have kept inside. Being naked makes your feel vulnerable and exposed. This may be how you feel if you were to express yourself. You are BEARING your soul. Note that bear is a pun on bare. You truly feel naked if you were to "bare" your soul. You fear that you might be judged or criticized by everyone around you.

The feeling that the bathroom stalls are too small suggests that you are trying desperately to keep these emotions to yourself. However, people around you sense that something is wrong. They can see right through the doorless stalls as you try in vain to discretely relieve yourself. You need to learn to let people in and trust that they will accept you for who you are.

Best Regards,
Steve
